Iconic Die Hard actor, 68, looks unrecognizable as he’s spotted on rare outing in LA… can you guess who?
As a dedicated follower of classic cinema, I have to say that Hart Bochner is one actor who has made an indelible mark on my movie-watching journey. From his iconic role as Harry Ellis in Die Hard to his appearances in Breaking Away and Terror Train, Bochner’s career spans decades and genres.
He’s best known for a classic supporting part in the iconic action thriller Die Hard.
In this movie, the actor portrayed a seedy adversary to the leading character, Bruce Willis, even though he didn’t play the primary antagonist.
Beyond the beloved Christmas song, his career spans over many decades, boasting numerous roles across both films and TV shows.
In the late 1970s, this Canadian actor from Toronto, who was already gaining recognition, starred in the critically-acclaimed coming-of-age dramedy Breaking Away, sharing the screen with Dennis Quaid, Daniel Stern, and Jackie Earle Haley, all of whom were on their way up.
Lately, I’ve found myself recurrently appearing in the Miles Teller-led, Nicholas Winding Refn-directed show “Too Old To Die Young”, as well as shows like “Criminal Minds” and “Scandal”.
Do you know who he is?
He’s the 68-year-old actor Hart Bochner, who is best known for playing Harry Ellis in Die Hard.
Bochner was spotted out in Los Angeles’ tony Brentwood neighborhood on Monday.
The reclusive celebrity was spotted out and about having lunch at Brentwood Country Mart with a female companion.
He wore a relaxed, stylish appearance with a gray T-shirt and a sleek, gray-blue flight jacket featuring red and white stripes along one edge.
He complemented the jacket with of faded blue jeans and wore a set of tan suede clogs, and he accessorized with striking thick-framed eyeglasses.
Bochner’s associate donned clothing suitable for the cold December weather, sporting a warm, beige suede vest with a lining of fleece over a white blouse.
She wore her item concealed within a faded-blue denim skirt, and she was distinct due to a stylish pair of fringed beige leather boots.
The woman carried a brown woven leather handbag and eye-catching black-and-white framed sunglasses.
In the iconic film Die Hard, Bochner portrayed the unsavory character Harry Ellis, a colleague of Bonnie Bedelia’s character, who was Bruce Willis’ on-screen wife.
During their company’s Christmas party, when the skyscraper where they work gets seized by hostiles, the character portrayed by Willis, a New York Police Department detective named John McClane, makes it his mission to rescue the hostages and eliminate the terrorists one at a time.
Ellis learns, quite painfully, that the terrorists, who were famously portrayed by the late Alan Rickman in his breakout performance, have no intention of negotiating following Ellis’s attempt to strike a deal for the release of the hostage office workers, after he inflated his sense of importance.
As a die-hard admirer, let me share a fascinating tidbit about the multi-talented individual, none other than Bochner. His mother, Ruth, graced the stage as a virtuoso concert pianist, while his father, Lloyd Bochner, captivated audiences with his acting skills. Interestingly enough, this talented soul made an appearance in the 1980 slasher movie Terror Train, starring the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis!
In 1984, he starred in the flop movie “Super Girl” at the box office. In 1988, he acted alongside a young Colin Firth as the main character in the suspenseful film “Apartment Zero.
In addition, later productions encompass the 1999 dramedy “Anywhere But Here,” featuring Natalie Portman and Susan Sarandon, as well as the 2001 suspenseful film titled “Say Nothing.
Additionally, Bochner ventured into film direction with projects like PCU (1994), High School High (1996), and Just Add Water (2008).
Beyond just his screen appearances, Bochner lent his voice to play City Councilman Arthur Reeves in the 1993 animated masterpiece Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
In the movie, tied to the esteemed Batman: The Animated Series (1992-1995), there was a unique link to his father Lloyd, who lent his voice to Mayor Hamilton Hill in that show, as well as its successor, The New Batman Adventures (1997-1999).
