Iconic channel is making a big return with whole host of new entertainment shows

Okay, so Sky just announced some awesome news – Sky One is coming back later this month! I used to watch this channel all the time. It originally launched way back in 1989 – though it was actually around even earlier in 1982 under a different name – and it was the place to catch huge American shows and some really great British ones too. I’m stoked to see what they bring back and what new stuff they add!

The channel featured a mix of popular shows like Lost, Battlestar Galactica, The Simpsons, Futurama, Malcolm in the Middle, and Stargate SG-1, alongside British programs such as Brainiac: Science Abuse, A League of Their Own, and An Idiot Abroad.

The channel closed down in 2021 and was succeeded by Sky Max and Sky Showcase. Many of its programs were also transferred to Sky Comedy.

But now it’s coming back in just a few weeks, on Tuesday 24 February, back in that 106 slot.

This confirms that both Max and Showcase are closing, bringing things back to how they were in 2021.

I’m really excited about the new show coming out, Saturday Night Live UK! They just announced who’s going to be the main cast members a few days ago, and it looks promising.

You can also find shows like The Dyers’ Caravan Park and Gemma Collins: Four Weddings and a Baby. Plus, popular series Rob & Romesh Vs, The Paper, and Ted are all returning with new episodes.

Sky TV and NOW want to help customers find and watch their favorite shows more easily, according to Carli Kerr, their managing director.

Inspired by the popular Sky One channel, this new destination will be energetic, exciting, and unlike anything else you’ve seen.

There’s been some uncertainty about how the launch of HBO Max in the UK next March will affect Sky Atlantic.

As a Sky customer, I’m really happy to hear that all my favorite shows like House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us will stay on Sky Atlantic! Plus, anything new they release before the end of 2025 will be available there too, and through Sky’s On Demand service, which is awesome.

Shows like The Pitt and the new Lanterns series will only be available on HBO Max. However, Sky will be offering packages that include access to the streaming service.

Rumors suggest Sky might acquire ITV, and Netflix is waiting for legal approval to buy Warner Bros, the company that owns HBO. Both deals could dramatically reshape the UK’s media industry, but nothing is certain yet.

Sky One relaunches on Tuesday, 24 February.
