Iconic Baywatch babe to reprise role in reboot with Brooks Nader and Livvy Dunne 34 years after leaving series

Fans of the original Baywatch will be happy to hear that a cast member from the classic series is joining the new reboot.

Erika Eleniak is returning to the Fox reboot of the show, reprising her role as Shauni McClain, it was announced Friday.

The 56-year-old actress will return to play Shauni in a guest role, according to Deadline.

Eleniak appeared in the first two seasons of the original Baywatch series, but she left the show before the third season was very far along.

She’ll be joined on the new version of the show by several new faces, including Brooks Nader, who started as a model and is now an actress and reality TV star, and Livvy Dunne, an influencer and former gymnast.

News that the new Baywatch series would include actors without professional acting experience sparked outrage among fans, who criticized the casting decisions.

Shauni, now a city councilwoman in Santa Monica, will return to the show to help Hobie Buchannon organize the first-ever Beach Games. The event will be a competition between the Baywatch lifeguards and members of the Coast Guard.

Interestingly, Hobie, the son of Mitch Buchannon from the original series, will be back in the new version of the show. However, the role will be played by Stephen Amell, known for his work on Arrow.

Brandon Call originally played the part during the first season of Baywatch, but Jeremy Jackson became much more well-known for the role after taking over for the rest of the show’s run.

David Amell will star as the main character in the new Baywatch series, playing a role comparable to David Hasselhoff’s in the original show.

He’s been promoted from lifeguard to captain of the Baywatch team, taking over the position previously held by his father.

Hobie is used to the daily challenges of being a lifeguard, but his life gets more complicated when his estranged daughter, Charlie, suddenly shows up.

When Jessica Belkin’s character, Charlie, unexpectedly tries out to be a lifeguard on Baywatch, it causes problems for Hobie.

The reboot also features Noah Beck, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, actress Shay Mitchell (known from Pretty Little Liars), and David Chokachi returning as Cody Madison.

Viewers who remember Yasmine Bleeth from the original Baywatch might be surprised to see her guest star, as she now has large, noticeable tattoos covering both of her arms.

We don’t know yet if Shauni will appear in just one episode, or if her new position as a city councilwoman will bring her back for multiple appearances later on.

In a 2018 interview with Fox News, Eleniak discussed her experiences on the show Baywatch, which originally aired from 1989 to 2001, lasting for 11 seasons.

She described her former colleagues as a close-knit group, like a family. There was a strong sense of teamwork and support on set, and they even had actual lifeguards and paramedics present, thanks to one of the show’s creators being a trained lifeguard.

She explained that the lifeguards had a strong sense of camaraderie, and the entire film crew was fantastic.

She ultimately decided to leave the show because she felt it was becoming too suggestive.

But the decision to leave the show also opened her up to take more appealing film roles.

It wasn’t really about being uncomfortable, though that wasn’t ideal. I was simply drawn to filmmaking – that’s what truly motivated me to move on, she explained.
