In the midst of his comeback, Lionel Messi has written an open book detailing his remarkable almost six-decade-long career, with plans to publish it in September.

The memoir, named “Truly,” is described as a very personal and honest account by its publisher HarperOne.

Lionel Richie, known for his hit song “Endless Love,” aims to motivate those struggling with self-doubt or feeling their dreams are insignificant, by sharing the valuable insights gained throughout his extraordinary journey to success, as detailed in a recent announcement.

Richie transitioned from being a painfully shy late bloomer struggling with ADHD to an outstanding performer and songwriter of romantic tunes that have echoed through our lives like a moving soundtrack.

Lionel is also the father to daughters Nicole and Sofia Richie.

Richie explained that he considers himself ‘the reluctant hero of my own story,’ per People.

The memoir starts by delving into Richie’s days as a college student at Tuskegee Institute, Alabama, during the peak of the civil rights era, followed by his journey with The Commodores and subsequently his rise to fame as a solo artist in the 1980s.

In his own words, Richie shared that wherever he goes, what people truly yearn to hear is, “You are loved.

‘My love lasts forever, and when we understand that despite our differences in culture or background, we are all part of the human race, that’s the moment we’ll truly unite, standing strong as one global family.’

As an ardent admirer, I’d put it this way: “I’ve always seen Lionel Richie not just as a musical titan who effortlessly connects various cultures and generations, but also as a silent witness to the earth-shattering changes in history and entertainment. His collaborations with some of the greatest talents of our era have been nothing short of inspiring.

I couldn’t help but express my sheer excitement as I said, ‘I can’t contain my enthusiasm! We’re not just offering a deep, heartfelt journey through his life experiences, but also his unique perspective on the world. It’s about the transformations and constants, the challenges and triumphs that have shaped him.’

The artist known for his hit songs plans to discuss a challenging time in his life, which he refers to as his “most difficult phase”. This included the loss of his father, two painful divorces, and an injury to his vocal cords that came close to robbing him of his singing ability.

Additionally, he discusses the struggles he faced due to shifts within the music world, culminating in his role as a judge on American Idol.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share my personal account of survival – a tale that unfolds through an act of divine intervention, propelling me towards even greater achievements. This story, I believe, stands among the most inspiring rejuvenation narratives ever told.

Richie’s memoir will be released on September 30, 2025 and is available for pre-sale now.
