As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for music history, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness upon hearing about Dave Mason’s health scare and subsequent tour cancellation. The man is a living legend, a true titan of rock ‘n’ roll who has graced our ears with his soulful guitar riffs and poignant lyrics for decades.

Due to the discovery of a severe heart issue, renowned guitarist Dave Mason has regretfully decided to cancel his forthcoming concerts across the United States.

The well-known musician, a founding member of the legendary British rock group Traffic, has been rushed for urgent medical care after the issue was discovered during a regular check-up by physicians.

The musician, 78, was set to embark on a US tour this autumn across California and Nevada.

However doctors have advised him to pause all tour activity while he receives treatment.

In a heartfelt update posted personally on my site, I must share some concerning news about dear Dave Mason. During a recent check-up, he was diagnosed with a severe heart condition that demands prompt care. Please keep him in your thoughts as we navigate this challenging time together.

Based on the advice from his medical team, it’s been decided that he won’t be participating in any tours this fall. Consequently, we had to call off the tour.

Dave revealed he was ‘heartbroken’ to have to cancel his tour dates and let his fans down.

He added: ‘I’m heartbroken to have to cancel these dates, but it’s doctor’s orders.

‘I’ll be back, and better than ever, in 2025.’

On Tuesday, the star had a scheduled performance at Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara, California, and then moved on to The Canyon in Montclair for a show on Thursday.

The tour was originally planned to end on October 12, but it’s been decided that we will postpone it until next year after Dave has fully recovered.

Dave hails from Worcester and gained popularity when he established the rock group Traffic in the 1960s, alongside musicians like Steve Winwood, drummer Jim Capaldi, and Chris Wood who played multiple instruments.

After they released their first album “Mr. Fantasy” in 1967, Dave decided to depart from the band. Yet, he reunited with them again for their subsequent album “Traffic,” which came out a year later.

It is well-known that Dave penned one of Traffic’s greatest anthems, “Feelin’ Alright?”, a song that has since been reinterpreted by various musicians such as Joe Cocker, Three Dog Night, and The Jackson 5.

Following another departure from the band, Dave embarked upon a successful solo journey, collaborating with numerous music legends such as Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton.

In the year 2004, Dave and fellow Traffic bandmates were honored by being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, sharing this recognition with George Harrison, Prince, and ZZ Top.

In 1971, Dave made a permanent relocation to the United States and resided in the Ojai Valley, California, for 16 years. His latest residence is reportedly in both Nevada and Hawaii as well.
