Ice Cream Man
Renowned horror director Eli Roth is set to release another terrifying film following his previous work. Interestingly, Roth claims that this movie was considered too daring for studios to produce. Yet, devoted horror enthusiasts may find themselves perplexed by the film’s unusual title.
As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I, myself, am embarking on a chilling new venture: directing and penning “Ice Cream Man,” an upcoming horror masterpiece from Media Capital Technologies and The Horror Section. This intriguing tale unfolds in a picturesque summer town, where tranquility gives way to chaos as an ice cream vendor’s sweet treats lead to terrifying consequences.
In conjunction with Media Capital Technologies, I established The Horror Section, a dynamic platform dedicated to horror media, in March. Our mission is to create and distribute movies, TV shows, and podcasts that thrive within the horror genre. For me, “Ice Cream Man” represents an ideal project for The Horror Section, as other studios hesitated to bring this chilling story to life, as per the horror filmmaker.
Fans of horror may ponder if the upcoming movie shares ties with the 1995 horror-comedy “Ice Cream Man” starring Clint Howard, given its identical title. Contrary to speculation, this new film is not a modern take on the revered cult classic from three decades ago; rather, it originates from an original concept by Roth and bears no resemblance to the previous movie led by Howard. The director has also expressed his long-standing ambition to bring his “Ice Cream Man” project to life.
Roth stated, “For a considerable period, I’ve harbored this concept that studios found too daring in its early stages. Now, I’m ready to venture even beyond those boundaries with what promises to be my most chilling and unorthodox production yet. This is the kind of film that was designed for our Horror Section, meant to create unrated, edge-pushing cinematic experiences that horror enthusiasts will be discussing for years. I’m fortunate to have MCT and all the investors in The Horror Section as my partners in this venture. As of now, there is no confirmed release date for ‘Ice Cream Man’.
Eli Roth is Working on Thanksgiving 2
Following the triumph of his 2023 horror movie set during the holidays titled Thanksgiving, director Roth is actively trying to launch the second installment. As reported, Roth aimed to start shooting Thanksgiving 2 in March, with a tentative release date of 2025. However, an exact release date for this horror film hasn’t been set yet, but Roth has confirmed that the sequel’s script is complete. The screenwriter for the original movie, Jeff Rendell, is also responsible for writing the script for the upcoming sequel.
In 2023, the movie titled “Thanksgiving” had an impressive box office run, raking in $46.5 million globally on a budget of just $15 million. The film was also highly praised by critics, garnering an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The star-studded cast includes Patrick Dempsey, Neil Verlaque, Addison Rae, Ty Olsson, Gina Gershon, Lynne Griffin, Karen Cliche, Rick Hoffman, and Derek McGrath. As of now, there’s no word on whether any of the original cast will reprise their roles in the sequel, and plot details are being kept secret for the time being. You can currently stream “Thanksgiving” on Netflix.
There is no official release date for Ice Cream Man.
