The International Cricket Council (ICC), which oversees cricket worldwide, is contemplating creating a mobile cricket video game of their own. This decision is aimed at capitalizing on the expanding market for mobile games and broadening the organization’s sources of revenue.
As per a report from ESPNcricinfo, the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) digital team intends to submit its proposal to the Chief Executives’ Committee during meetings in Harare, Zimbabwe. The proposal aims to invite software developers, with an initial focus on creating a mobile application for release.
India’s booming $3.8 billion mobile gaming market is a key motivation behind the ICC’s interest
Cricket games continue to captivate audiences worldwide, despite potential decreases in broadcast rights revenues. On the other hand, mobile gaming has experienced exponential growth, particularly in cricket-passionate countries such as India, where the market is projected to surpass $3.8 billion. The International Cricket Council (ICC) seeks to tap into this lucrative sector, but achieving that goal won’t be straightforward.
One potential reason is that the current market for cricket mobile games is quite substantial, with some well-known titles already dominating the field. Games like World Cricket Championship 3 (WCC3), Dream Cricket, Hitwicket, Star Cricket Mobile, and Real Cricket can be found in the free category, while Cricket Captain serves as a premium option.

Additionally, if they aim to turn this into a game, they’ll require top-notch developers to join their team. While current games are satisfactory, there seems to be a shortage of realism and depth. Console games like the highly realistic “Cricket 24” from “Big Ant” already possess these qualities.
As of now, there’s no official word on the matter yet. However, one thing that seems undeniable is that if the International Cricket Council manages to nail this mobile cricket game, it could potentially revolutionize the gaming experience for us devoted fans.
