Ibiza legend DJ Alfredo dies aged 71 as heartfelt tributes flood in from fellow dance music stars and fans

DJ Alfredo has died at the age of 71.
The Ibiza legend has left his fans heartbroken and many have paid tribute to star who ‘changed world of music’.
Known by many as Alfredo Fiorito, the Argentine disc jockey has earned a reputation as one of the most significant figures in the annals of dance music.
Previously, it was made known that he suffered a stroke in the year 2021, prompting the launch of a fundraising campaign to aid him afterwards.
The famous club that launched his career, Amnesia, paid tribute to him on Instagram on Tuesday.
“Dear Alfredo, I want to express my gratitude for the unforgettable evenings and rhythmic moments we spent together. You significantly contributed to the style of Balearic Beat and the essence of Amnesia with your music and vision.
‘So many memories were made through your energy, your legacy will live on our dancefloor forever.
‘You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Alfredo. The Amnesia Family.’
Various dance music veterans, such as Sister Bliss, Dave Pearce, and Rowetta, have honored him digitally.
Sister Bliss wrote: ‘Very sad to hear the news about DJ Alfredo – my first trip to Ibiza in 92 was to play for him at Amnesia … safe to say he changed the of music for the better. Fly high to the great gig in the sky.’

In 1976, he moved to Ibiza and gained recognition for his diverse style of music, which significantly impacted the Balearic beat movement and contributed to establishing Ibiza as a significant player in the music industry.
In 1983, he made his debut at the club Amnesia, and it was there in 1987 that he captivated Danny Rampling, Paul Oakenfold, and Nicky Holloway with his performances.
Born in the vibrant city of Rosario, located in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, Fiorito initially devoted his career towards journalism training. Later on, he found himself critiquing music for a local newspaper.
In 1976, at the age of 23, he emigrated to mainland Spain.
After a short period he relocated to Ibiza.
