Ian McKellen confirms Gandalf will be in new Lord of the Rings movie

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the enchanting world of Middle-earth, I can hardly contain my excitement upon hearing that Gandalf himself, Ian McKellen, will reprise his iconic role in future Lord of the Rings movies! The prospect of witnessing Gandalf’s exploits once more is akin to embarking on another epic quest through the Shire and beyond.

Ian McKellen has revealed that Gandalf will appear in future The Lord of the Rings movies.

After the main trilogy and The Hobbit prequels, where McKellen played the role of the valiant yet grumpy wizard, additional movies are being produced. This year, an anime titled War of the Rohirrim is set to be released, and two live-action films – tentatively named The Hunt for Gollum and currently untitled – are also in development.

In a chat with The Big Issue, Sir Ian McKellen hinted that Gandalf (also known as Mithrandir for those who prefer Elvish terminology) is expected to appear in at least one of these forthcoming movies. However, it remains undecided if the revered actor will be the one portraying him.

McKellen shared that he was recently informed that additional movies are planned, and it is anticipated that he will be portraying Gandalf in them.

“When? I don’t know. What the script is? It’s not written yet. So they better be quick!”

Previously, McKellen declared that he had no intentions of retiring from acting and intended to carry on as much as his physical condition permitted. However, there was a brief concern this year when he took a fall on stage, causing him to withdraw from the rest of the performances.

Despite his progress towards full recovery, he openly acknowledged that he continues to experience physical weakness, which he is addressing through exercise. In light of this, he has opted to take the remainder of the year off from work.

“Not because I need to, just because I want to,” he insisted.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is set to ride into cinemas on December 13.
