Ian H Watkins exits Celebrity MasterChef after failing to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace in the latest round ‘I am absolutely amazed that I even made it this far’
As a die-hard Steps fan who has witnessed Ian ‘H’ Watkins’ incredible journey from pop stardom to celebrity chef wannabe, I must admit that this rollercoaster ride of emotions left me utterly spellbound! From his tearful blunder with Craig Doyle to his triumphant exit from Celebrity MasterChef, the British heartthrob has truly captivated us all.
Ian ‘H’ Watkins was eliminated from celebrity MasterChef this week.
The 48-year-old singer recognized for being part of the pop group Steps was the most recent contestant to depart from the BBC program, as he couldn’t satisfy judges John Torode (age 59) and Gregg Wallace (also 59) with his dish that was modeled after renowned chef Heston Blumenthal’s style.
Following the announcement of the decision, Ian expressed gratitude towards the judges for significantly altering his life and warmly embraced them before taking his leave.
He said: ‘I have had the craziest, most amazing time.’
‘Thank you for changing my life. Seriously. I mean it – bless you, bless you.’
The chart-topping pop star also admitted that he exceeded his own expectations during his time on the hit BBC show.
He confessed: ‘I am absolutely amazed that I even made it this far.’
A part of me wishes I could continue, but I am incredibly proud of what I’ve accomplished. You see, I’ve picked up some new skills – like filleting a fish, making pasta, and even cooking a lobster.
He then joked: ‘I will tell you, I will be eating out every night this month…’
His departure follows his confession last month, revealing that he had never prepared a meal for his loved ones or acquaintances prior to this.
When asked how his cooking usually goes down with friends and family Ian said ‘Erm, it doesn’t!
My regular meal options often involve choosing between ready-made meals or assorted snacks, or opting for a bring-your-own scenario.
In his explanation, he mentioned that he was eager to participate because he yearned for a challenge that would stimulate him. He is recognized among his friends and family as someone who hasn’t demonstrated cooking skills, up until now.
In terms of culinary skills, I consider myself quite adept with an air fryer and a microwave. To expand my abilities and share them with my kids and loved ones, I decided to participate in Celebrity MasterChef, aiming to acquire new cooking techniques that we can enjoy together in the future.
Last month, Ian was left in tears after he suffered a blunder in the kitchen.
In this particular segment, he worked alongside Craig Doyle from This Morning on a contest, where they both had to create identical cannolis filled with ricotta cream.
However, tragedy ensued when his pastry collapsed under pressure as he lamented, “Oh dear, I’ve crushed it now. Oh heavens, this feels like a catastrophe.
Despite being surprised, Ian exclaimed, “Wow, really!”, after Judge John complimented, “They’re delicious.
Later on, Judge Gregg commented: “They appear alike but have differences. Yours are slimmer, Craig,” before turning his attention to Ian’s work and stating: “However, yours are more rounded and plump.
Ian then told teammate Craig: ‘I feel like crying!’ as the This Morning star told him ‘well done’.
