A former colleague of TV personality Eamonn Holmes has shared insights into his behavior behind the scenes, away from the cameras.

The well-known TV host, age 66, is best remembered for co-presenting ITV’s This Morning alongside his former wife, Ruth Langsford, 65. The couple later divorced after 14 years of marriage.

Anthea Turner, now 65, says that when she appeared on the Good Morning show with Eamonn Holmes in 1994, he seemed dismissive of her experience and became envious of her growing popularity. Her success hosting National Lottery Live from 1994 to 1996 apparently bothered him.

Eamonn is a professional journalist, and I’m not, which created some friction between us from the beginning. Also, I was quickly asked to co-present the show, and I believe that bothered him as well, she explained to The Times.

Her first appearance on the lottery show became hugely popular attracting 22 million viewers.

However, Eamonn reportedly attempted to have her fired from GMTV, claiming she was ‘too ambitious’.

She explained to The Sun that people often questioned her ambition. Whenever she admitted she was ambitious, she was portrayed as heartless and willing to harm others to achieve her goals.

‘It would be said that I was hormonal, or I was stamping my feet.’ 

If a man asks that question and has drive, we admire him. But you’d never say that about someone like Eamonn or Philip Schofield – they’re simply doing what they’re paid to do.

Honestly, it really bothered me. I just wanted to focus on work I loved and was good at, but it felt like everything had to be categorized and labeled, which just took away from the actual enjoyment.

Eamonn and Anthea’s relationship famously fell apart while they were both hosting GMTV in the 1990s. Things reached a point where Eamonn gave show bosses a demand, which ultimately led to Anthea leaving the program.

Anthea left GMTV in 1996 after Eamonn Holmes playfully nicknamed her ‘Princess Tippy Toes,’ and Fiona Phillips took her place.

In a recent interview on the Miranda Holder Weekly Fashion Podcast, she explained that she doesn’t dwell on past issues or negative experiences, preferring to move forward without baggage.

She continued by saying that everyone dislikes unfairness and wants to be understood, emphasizing that being misunderstood is deeply painful.

Talking about her past brought back a memory of reading an article about herself and realizing she didn’t recognize the person it described.

She pointed out that today, she could use social media to respond to criticism right away.

During a particularly stressful time at work, she explained that she felt physically ill at the prospect of coming into what she described as a hostile workplace.

Eamonn Holmes recently reconciled with Anthea Turner, ending a ten-year feud. They shared a friendly photo on Instagram, signaling their renewed connection.

Anthea and her former colleagues, Eamonn and Ruth, resolved their long-standing disagreement. After reconciling in 2005, they publicly put the feud behind them during an appearance on the show This Morning in 2018.

Eamonn discussed the possibility of being friends with an ex, pointing out that he and one of his exes are currently on good terms, despite rumors to the contrary. He noted that some people actually believe they dislike each other.

Anthea joked: ‘Ruth’s not bothered at all.’

I was so thrilled when Ruth clarified that she and Anthea were actually married, truly married! It was lovely to hear her say it so definitively. Anthea, ever the playful one, quickly added that they’d first played husband and wife on television, which just made me smile – their history is so sweet!

She explained that love and hate can be very close, and shared that she and Eamonn find it easier to remain friends. Ruth Langsford agreed, saying it was good they could maintain that friendly relationship.
