I Won’t Be Silent

On a recent Saturday in London, Paloma Faith passionately expressed her views during a demonstration, vowing not to remain quiet until the freedom of Palestine is achieved.

As I take center stage today, I find myself standing amidst a chorus of voices advocating for peace and justice, rallying near the Israeli Embassy. The air is heavy with tension as we stand united in solidarity with Palestine. The unfortunate actions of Israel, shattering the fragile ceasefire with Hamas, have once again ignited attacks on Gaza. It’s moments like these that remind us all of our shared commitment to empathy, understanding, and a world where everyone can live free from violence.

In front of everyone, Paloma shared her thoughts: “When the truce was announced, just like you all, I felt a sense of relief, yet apprehensive that it might not persist.

Despite knowing Israel’s history of breaching every truce it has entered into and despite the horrifying events I had witnessed over several months, I was still not fully prepared for the fresh wave of brutal violence that Israel seems to have plunged into recently.

On Tuesday, within a span of 24 hours, Israel reportedly took the lives of 174 children, which averages to over seven deaths per hour. This troubling statistic was shared by Paloma as she expressed her concern.

‘Every eight minutes, a child is killed in Gaza during this genocide. If we were to observe a minute of silence for each child lost, it would amount to more than 300 hours without speaking. Therefore, I choose not to remain silent.’

If I have the opportunity to express myself, and I choose not to advocate for those who are unfairly treated, then I become a part of their injustice.

Towards the end of the day, Paloma shared the complete video of her speech on Instagram, noting that she would post the entire speech on Monday. However, today’s session held special significance for her.

I had trouble holding back my feelings each evening, something I usually manage in private. Today, I was grateful to @palestinesolidarityuk for giving me the opportunity to speak. I believe that anyone with compassion can see how unjust this situation is.

After Paloma clarified her conviction that she won’t face cancellation, she attributed this to her upbringing which, in her words, positioned her on the correct side of moral and ethical standards.

This year, the artist debuted her podcast titled Mad, Sad & Bad, and since then, she’s been remarkably open, discussing personal experiences such as getting unexpectedly involved in an intimate moment on a Spanish street during one episode.

Despite her bold opinions and extraordinary tales, the star feels confident they won’t lead to trouble, as she shared with The Sun her strategies for avoiding scandals.

She expressed that she’s completely unafraid of being criticized or silenced, as she is quite confident in her principles and values.

I find comfort in the belief that my political views and actions are just fine. Growing up, I was nurtured in a diverse, socially inclusive environment where people of various sexual orientations, including gay, straight, transgender, and even drag queens, were part of my everyday life.

The artist behind “The Only Love Can Hurt Like This” went deeper into her past, exploring how the powerful memory of encountering a cross-dresser for the first time at age ten has continued to impact her.

It seems like a lot of individuals being criticized are straight white men, doesn’t it? They should expect it. After all, it’s not right to inappropriately touch others, put drugs in someone’s drink without consent, or use derogatory language towards those who identify as LGBTQ+. Such actions will inevitably lead to consequences.

Paloma took a moment to ponder over the past two months of her podcast, during which she welcomed a diverse array of guests such as Alan Carr and Mel B onto the program.

She mentioned that the initial set of episodes centered around discussions with her close companions, but as the series gained momentum, she voiced a wish to explore new topics.

The song creator mentioned that from time to time, she goes back to listen to her recordings to make sure her messages are conveyed accurately.

I shared my thoughts following my energetic kickoff of Mad, Sad & Bad, where I stirred up quite a buzz on TikTok with an enticing sneak peek.

In a candid revelation, the singer known for “Never Tear Us Apart” shared an incident she considered her most daring: ‘At age 21, I consented to a public act in the streets of Seville.’

An elderly woman strolled by, catching a glance from us. Our eyes met briefly, and she gave a disapproving shake of the head.

In a candid moment, Paloma opened up about the most exhilarating period for her, which happened to be when Transport for London introduced the Oyster travel card.

In my fervent passion for crafting, I devoted no less than three precious hours to meticulously forming a paper mache oyster shell, all in the name of personal transportation via the bus.

‘And when the bus doors opened I tapped it on the reader and the driver went, ‘What are you doing?’

‘And I was like, ‘It’s an Oyster!’ He was like, ‘I’m not moving this bus until you’ve paid’.

‘That is a bit mad because it wasn’t for anybody’s kind of fun, it was just for my own amusement.’

In a particularly sorrowful turn of events, Paloma experienced deep sadness upon parting ways with the father of her kids, which later inspired her to create her most recent album, “The Glorification of Melancholy.

The singer dated Leyman Lahcine for nine years prior to their split in 2022.

About a week ago, Paloma made their relationship with Stevie Thomas, whom she’s been quietly seeing for a year, official at the Sony Music BRITs afterparty.

The celebrity embraced her partner, who holds the position of managing director at The JamHouse, following a lavish music awards ceremony; they both enjoyed the festivities together.

They showed affectionate behavior, giggling and playfully interacting with each other, which was captured by cameras. Later, they hopped onto a lively dance floor together.

Paloma recently revealed she is ‘pulling in from everywhere’ for her new project.

The 43-year-old vocalist is once again in the recording studio, crafting her seventh studio album. She shared that this work represents a period when she’s navigating intense emotional extremes. Instead of drawing from dramatic events, she’s weaving lyrics from common daily interactions to create the piece.

She shared with The Sun that she draws motivation from personal experiences, daily observations, and passages she’s come across.
