I Will Always Have A Soft Spot For Gremlins, And Now It Looks Like I Need To Make Some Room For This LEGO Set

I can’t quite remember when I first saw Gremlins, but I’ve loved Joe Dante’s classic holiday horror film for most of my 37 years. The famous horror-comedy, where a bunch of mogwai take over a town during the holidays and turn Christmas into a scary experience, is something I never tire of watching. And now, there’s a new Gremlins LEGO set with Gizmo, a main character from the series, which would look great with my movies and other little items in my office.

If you enjoy collecting nostalgic items (like I do) but want to keep spending under control, take a look at this! Let’s check out this impressive, eye-catching, and incredibly cute LEGO version of Gizmo, complete with a pair of 3D glasses.

For As Long As I Can Remember, Gremlins Has Been One Of My Favorite Movies

My older brother and I used to watch Gremlins over and over every holiday season – it became a tradition, just like watching 24 hours of A Christmas Story or having Home Alone marathons. Even though I was too young to fully understand the movie back then, I absolutely loved Gizmo and his mischievous siblings, both as cute little creatures and after they turned into scary, chaotic monsters.

Even now, when my brothers and I rarely get together – usually only during the holidays – we still enjoy watching this classic film from 1984. It always brings back important lessons we’ve learned over time…

This 1,100-Piece Set Recreates One Of Gremlins’ Most Iconic Scenes

I’m still deciding whether I’ll visit my parents for the holidays, but this large Gremlins LEGO set feels like something my brothers and I would really enjoy while watching the film. With 1,125 pieces, the new set includes Gizmo and a pair of 3D glasses that recreate a famous scene from the movie. They look just like the glasses the mogwai is wearing while watching Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the night his brothers convinced Billy Peltzer to feed them after midnight.

While the set doesn’t include any additional characters (we apologize to those hoping for a LEGO spike or perhaps Murray Futterman’s snow plow), Gizmo is very posable, allowing him to be put into many different positions.

Like The Movie, This Gremlins Set Isn’t Made For Kids (But That Won’t Stop Me)

Gremlins is officially rated PG, but along with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, it played a big part in the creation of the PG-13 rating. Despite that, this movie is really aimed at children, and the new LEGO set is much the same.

LEGO says this Gizmo model is designed for adults and older teens. I don’t think it’s because of any violent content – like someone losing their head or a gremlin meeting a fiery end (though I imagine it *would* melt!). It’s probably challenging because of how many pieces there are and how complicated it is to build. Still, I wouldn’t be shocked if I end up building this with my kids around Christmas time.

Like I often do when I write about LEGO sets, I’m hoping my wife sees this so she gets an idea of what I’d like for Christmas…
