I’ll admit it: I got it wrong about Tammy Hembrow.

Last year, when she quickly ran down the aisle with Matt Zukowski from Love Island, following only four months of dating, it seemed to me that she had clearly gone off track or acted impulsively.

Not only was I not alone, but it seemed as if her 17 million Instagram followers were all sending clear messages with their virtual neon signs, urging her against marrying a man who displayed warning signs like a flashing red light.

However, she chose not to heed advice. Their marriage endured for approximately six months, leaving one with a sense of “I-told-you-so,” albeit unspoken.

Following her Vogue Bride wedding, there was hardly a moment for us to close our eyes before she shared the heartbreaking video, signaling that everything had ended.

It was painfully predictable. 

I wrote at the time that I pitied Tammy. How did she not see this coming?

As a devoted admirer reflecting on the situation, I often ponder over the thought of such a radiant and highly valued woman, who nurtures three precious children, finding companionship with an individual best known for his stint in reality TV shows, and whose podcast primarily revolves around self-discussion.

But now I’m eating my words. Tammy Hembrow, take a bow.

Instead of crafting it on a whiteboard by a marketing team, the 31-year-old executed such an impressively clever post-break-up maneuver that it seemed as if inspiration had struck naturally.

In mid-June, when the separation occurred, Matt was spotted with the lesser-known sports journalist Tayla Little (you may want to look her up online). However, Tammy chose not to react.

Instead, we had to wait six whole weeks for her next move. And boy, was it worth it. 

Over the past weekend, I simply couldn’t believe my eyes when I spotted none other than the heartthrob of Geelong, Bailey Smith, out and about! He’s undeniably the most captivating figure in the AFL – a fact that left poor Matt drooling over his favourite sport!

A player known for his long hair, strong jawline, and muscular legs traveled all the way from Melbourne specifically to have lunch with someone at the trendy restaurant Rick Shores, located in Burleigh Heads.

Is a quick snack on the menu? Far from it. Instead, their behavior was anything but subtle, as Tammy’s low-cut white top effortlessly attracted the attention of the paparazzi and their cameras.

Photos soon emerged of them chewing each other’s faces off at another venue.

Adding insult to injury, at 24 years old, Bailey is not only more youthful and active than Matt, but also avoids the tedious conversation style on his podcast that can be harmful to brain cells.

It could be more fulfilling that Matt witnessed Bailey guide Geelong to defeat Essendon at GMHBA Stadium on Friday, and then, the very next day, fly off to reunite with his estranged wife on the Gold Coast – all this after Bailey had helped Geelong beat Matt’s favorite team.

Oh, yes. Tammy has played us all and we shouldn’t really be surprised.

You don’t gain 17 million Instagram followers without being smart.

To clear things up, I must admit that I haven’t got a clue about what’s happening between Tammy and Bailey beyond the pictures we’ve all seen. It could very well be the beginning of a beautiful love story, as their date at Rick Shores might indicate! Let me assure you, I’m not implying they are being insincere in any way.

But I also wasn’t born yesterday.

In the past, I’ve found myself associated with unknown individuals, which gives me a perspective on such situations. Could it be that Tammy was dating Bailey as a form of revenge against her ex? That’s certainly plausible.

From my perspective as a lifestyle guide, I see that Tammy, now on her own, is embracing this new chapter with enthusiasm. Not only is she enjoying herself, but she’s also craftily reshaping her story in a way that’s truly inspiring.

You can have a good time and enjoy some positive PR glow – it’s not a case of either-or.

Currently, she’s basking in the kind of positive attention that can’t be purchased. She is seen with a man that many young women in their twenties would dream to date, and she is doing so as a 30-something mother of three, having recently emerged from a broken marriage.

Here’s a confession: I pulled a stunt a lifetime ago when I was publicly dumped. 

After my tears had stopped, I shared on Instagram that my IKEA table was sturdier than him, and later, I was photographed outside with a charming, youthful model.

Petty? Yes. Spiteful? Sure. Cringe? Now I look back on it, very much so. 

But did it feel good? Abso-bloody-lutely.

It doesn’t seem like Tammy’s parents approving of her dating Bailey was the same situation – however, if it was, congratulations, Tammy!

One delightful aspect of Tammy and Bailey’s lunch date was evident – Bailey seemed to be smitten, swiftly defending herself when a photographer mispronounced her name.

Recently, Tammy seemed to be struggling and on the verge of confusion. However, much like a shrewd entrepreneur, she regained her composure and reasserted her authority.

Now she’s the cat that got the cream. The single mum who bagged Bailey Smith.

Meanwhile, Matt is left muttering into the mic in his podcast studio. 

Tammy, it’s not often I admit I’m wrong, but I take it all back. You didn’t need my pity.

While composing my latest piece regarding your apparent oversights, it seems your thoughts were elsewhere, perhaps preoccupied with more significant matters.

You weren’t the fool. I was – for underestimating you. 

Regarding Bailey, he plays a leading part in the most outstanding post-division brand makeover I’ve witnessed in quite some time.
