Speaking as a film enthusiast, let me tell you that I was immediately drawn back into the world of Dexter following the finale of New Blood. After a harrowing coma, our anti-hero finds himself in New York, on a mission to locate his son Harrison. However, things take an unexpected turn when he becomes entangled with a league of serial killers, a group he’s dead set on taking down one by one. The action is intense, the kills are gripping, and there have already been several surprising plot twists. And the best part? There’s still more to come!

Regrettably, the storylines planted during the final episodes of Original Sin‘s first season will never unfold. Personally, I believed the series was preparing to reveal Gellar’s hidden past, which would have endangered his dual roles as a blood splatter analyst and a serial killer. Additionally, I eagerly anticipated the arrival of new characters such as a young James Doakes.

More Michael C. Hall Is Simply Better

Michael C. Hall is primarily known for his role as Dexter, a part he’s played for twenty years. Although he provided narration for the first (and only) season of “Original Sin”, which was still a link to the main series, seeing him physically return on our screens as a hunter of serial killers in “Resurrection” is simply superior.

It should be clarified that this statement is not a critique of Patrick Gibson’s acting in the prequel series. Instead, it acknowledges that he delivered an exceptional portrayal of Hall’s vocal style and physicality, managing to make the character distinctively his own. However, as the saying goes, no one can truly replicate the magic of the original performer.

The television series Dexter: Resurrection currently has two more episodes left in its 2025 schedule, and it’s unclear if a second season will be produced, given that Original Sin has been canceled.
