Jared Leto is a huge fan of *Tron*. He’s been suggesting ideas for *Tron: Ares* for years – even before the movie *Legacy* was made – showing just how passionate he is about the franchise. If you don’t believe it, watching his reaction to riding the Tron Lightcycle Run at Disney World last year will definitely convince you.
I initially enjoyed the Tron Lightcycle Run, but after thinking about its problems, I’m starting to wonder if I liked it as much as I thought. It’s definitely not as exciting to me as it was for Leto, who was clearly thrilled when he first tried it. You can see his genuine excitement in this video:

Okay, so seeing this ride was… something else. Apparently, Jared Leto was absolutely blown away the first time he experienced it, and honestly, I get it! He’s been pushing for a revamp like this for years, and it’s clear how much it means to him – and now, after riding it, I can see why he was so passionate about getting it made. If I were in his shoes, starring in the movie it’s based on, I’d be just as excited!

A recent detail about the upcoming *Tron: Ares* suggests a beloved character from previous films might be in danger.
I’m revisiting the Leto sequence on the Lightcycle Ride because Disney World has temporarily transformed the ride to tie in with the new *Tron: Ares* movie. The main update is a change in color – it’s now red instead of blue – and they’ve added music by Nine Inch Nails. You can see what it’s like online, but be warned – if you’re planning a visit soon, you might want to avoid spoilers!
After getting a sneak peek at *Tron: Ares* at San Diego Comic-Con, I’m really looking forward to this event! Those few scenes were amazing, and I have high hopes for the full movie. I’m also excited about the score by Nine Inch Nails – it sounds fantastic! It’s clear why Jared Leto is so enthusiastic, even if we don’t know all the reasons yet. Hopefully, everything will make sense when the movie comes out on October 10th.
Although some fans are disappointed that the next *Tron* movie isn’t a direct continuation of *Tron: Legacy*, Jeff Bridges seems optimistic about the new direction. He publicly expressed his support for Jared Leto at SDCC 2025. Considering Bridges’ positive reaction, I’m hopeful the movie will be good. It’s not often an actor will criticize a film they’re currently promoting, though.
After years in development since 2017, *Tron: Ares* is arriving at a moment when the topic of artificial intelligence is on everyone’s minds. As AI becomes more and more present in our lives, this film could potentially explore those themes. However, it’s also possible *Tron: Ares* will simply be a fun, action-packed movie that Disney hopes will lead to future installments.
I’m planning to see the first showing of *Tron: Ares* when it comes out on October 10th. It might be a while before I ride the Tron Lightcycle Run again, and honestly, with how long the wait is compared to the ride itself, I might just skip it next time I visit.
