As a seasoned broadcaster with years of experience under my belt, I can certainly empathize with Will and AJ’s predicament ahead of the live launch show. It’s always a nerve-wracking time, but add to that a stiff neck and a lost voice, and it becomes a whole new level of challenge!

On Sunday, Big Brother makes a comeback on Channel 5, and I got the privilege of exploring the house ahead of time, prior to the actual contestants showing up to compete for the ultimate prize.

As an over-the-moon fanatic, I found myself stepping into the enigmatic Diary Room, and there it was – the top-secret, freshly unveiled chair! But alas, its grand reveal won’t happen until the weekend unfolds. Can’t wait!

When you’re inside, you encounter an overwhelmingly bright light and a camera, which can be quite daunting. In simpler terms, it’s a rather scary experience.

In simple terms, I received a covert assignment from Big Brother, and my job was to speak in the style of renowned narrator Marcus Bentley whenever I entered a particular room.

This was absolutely hilarious and seemed incredibly enjoyable, yet I ended up failing due to being overpowered by the chaos and subsequently forgetting everything in a rush.

The Big Brother house is actually inside a giant warehouse studio with loads of cameras and lights but the contestants will never see it or know that how how busy it gets with constant stuff happening.

Upon stepping into the living room, I unexpectedly encountered and snapped a photo with hosts AJ Odudu, aged 36, and Will Best, aged 39. They too were exploring the space in preparation for the upcoming launch on Sunday.

Stepping into that place felt akin to entering a vibrant carnival bathed in neon hues or a rainbow, particularly the hallway leading to the diary room, where the dazzling lights and clashing colors were almost blinding. It wouldn’t be surprising if the splatter-painted theme triggered headaches for some of the housemates.

It appeared that the combined kitchen and living area was more compact than what was depicted on-screen, which created a surreal experience, given its history of hosting numerous iconic scenes.

The bedroom was probably the best room, I loved the pink theme and it was slightly more toned down than the rest of the house.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must express that the sleeping arrangements were exceptionally cozy, boasting beds fit for royalty. Among them, there was one bed that stood out, offering an upgraded level of comfort with its elevated platform – a detail that might prove significant in future episodes.

As I stepped inside, I was utterly blown away! The place was a whirlwind of eclectic decor that stretched far beyond my wildest expectations. Soaring ceilings and mirrors adorning nearly every wall created an illusion of grandeur that left me breathless. Truly, it was a fan’s dream come true!

I spotted an unusual statue of a cat positioned quite high on one of the walls, and I pondered whether it had some significance or if it might be a hidden surveillance device.

The garden is equally spacious and you can see the buildings next door, which is the only place throughout the house where there’s any glimpse of the outside world.

I observed as well that the seating area seemed too small to accommodate all housemates, which may lead to smaller groups or cliques forming among them.

But before I knew it and after failing at my secret task I was evicted by Big Brother over the loud speaker.

The launch night was preceded by illnesses that affected both AJ and Will, as they were getting ready to usher in a fresh group of housemates for their third round.

Speaking on Capital Breakfast yesterday, I found myself sharing some personal health challenges that my partner AJ and I are currently facing. These ailments, if not managed well, may potentially impact our much-anticipated live launch event.

He explained that he has been hit by a ‘stiff neck’ that means he is struggling to move his head and was forced to visit an emergency physiotherapist.

Addressing hosts Jordan North, Chris Stark, and Sian Welby, Will shared that he’s been experiencing a sore neck lately, adding that it was particularly bad the day before but has improved somewhat today. He mentioned he had an urgent physical therapy session scheduled for a few hours from now following this conversation.

Laughingly commenting on the poor timing, he remarked: “It’s quite a pickle to find oneself immobile right before the annual grand spectacle, where you’ll be on-air for six consecutive weeks, surrounded by chaos – what a time for an unexpected immobility!

‘So I’m sorry Chris I can’t really look at you [laughs], you’re on the wrong side!’

Later on, Sian playfully remarked, “That’s why they gave you a swivel chair, so you could move around freely,” which prompted Will to retort humorously, “I could host the live show from one of these!

However, he added that he couldn’t even lean on his co-host for support as AJ has ‘lost her voice’.

Will said: ‘AJ’s lost her voice as well, yeah sorry, I saw her yesterday, we did a podcast record. That’s why she’s not doing radio today!’

He openly acknowledged feeling anxious about the live broadcast, yet emphasized that this apprehension stemmed from his deep affection for the program and his eagerness to ensure everything ran flawlessly.

He shared that he gets anxious because he cares deeply about the show and wants to ensure they deliver it well, considering both the content and the behavior of the participants.

However, as we approach Sunday and it’s time to go live, my nerves seem to vanish. I’m genuinely excited to encounter these individuals.
