I Quit Teen Mom, I Wasn’t Fired!

Teen Mom‘s Amber Portwood addressed the rumors she was fired from the MTV reality TV show Teen Mom: The Next Chapter in a TikTok Live.

She jumped on the live video to set the record straight.

Amber has been a long-time star in this series, as she’s featured on shows like “Teen Mom”, “16 and Pregnant”, and “Marriage Boot Camp”.

‘This is so weird to me,’ she began. ‘Not only am I not being let go, I quit three days ago.

In a conversation with Larry, the producer, I announced my resignation, explaining it by referring to my mental health issues and the emotionally intense environment on the set of the show, characterized by constant shouting and tears.

‘My mental health is more important, she said as the video ended. 

In the bustling ‘teens’ of the 2010s, I, Amber, found myself stepping into the limelight as a new mom-to-be, sharing my journey with my then-partner, Gary Shirley, on the popular series Teen Mom.

I’m not just a casual viewer; I’m a die-hard fan, yet it feels like my idol is constantly criticizing the very show that launched her career and provides her income. In her recent TikTok Live session, she didn’t hold back her disapproval once again.

Earlier this week she went on a rant threatening to get the show canceled. 

She believes that the show “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” is standing in the way of her reconnecting with her daughter, Leah, as she emotionally perceives it.

If the show continues as planned, I will make sure it gets cancelled, she declared on her live broadcast. The responsibility now lies with me, dear. I assure you of that fact.

‘I think the show’s getting cancelled, you guys,’ Amber said, adding, ‘God works in mysterious ways, y’all! I wish I could say more. Is that in my contract? Nope.’

As an obsessed fan, I couldn’t help but cheer and chuckle, then exclaimed, “It’s about time! It’s no secret that it needs to happen, but if you keep holding onto false hopes, you’ll eventually be left empty-handed.

Contrary to Amber’s assertions, the insider from Ashley’s Reality Roundup has stated that the show will not be axed.

‘We are currently on hiatus, and, of course, there’s never a guarantee that we’ll be picked up again,’ one source told The Ashley. 

However, there has been no communication regarding its cancellation, leaving me uncertain about her intentions. Additionally, it seems far-fetched to believe that Amber holds any influence to terminate the program.

‘It’s not confirmed that she has been fired, but based on her actions, it seems unlikely that she will remain employed.’

A second source hinted that Amber may be on the way out, especially considering she wasn’t invited to the season 28 reunion in New York City in January.

‘Gary and Leah attended, but Amber wasn’t included in the guest list,’ the source said to The Ashley. ‘She didn’t choose not to go – she simply wasn’t invited.’

The Sun reported that Amber will appear on at least three more episodes this season.

‘Amber has not had any recent discussions with production about leaving the show,’ their source insisted. ‘She has not been let go.’

The mom of Leah, 16, and James, 7, is appearing on fewer episodes this season because of her estrangement from her teen daughter Leah and first baby daddy, Gary Shirley, the source said.

‘Teen Mom is not a normal reality show,’ the source explained. ‘It’s a show about her relationships with her children and co-parenting with exes, and when those relationships are not in a good place, that gets reflected on the show.’

Amber admitted that she hesitated to shoot the single episode she’s appeared in this season because of her recent breakup with her partner, Gary Wayt.

‘Amber is currently struggling with her mental health issues,’ the source admitted.
