Yerin Ha, the star of Bridgerton, has spoken about how fulfilling it was to become the show’s romantic lead. In an interview with Radio Times, Ha, who plays Sophie Baek, explained that landing the role was a long-held dream. She shared that a lack of representation in traditional love stories motivated her move to Korea, and she was thrilled to finally see herself reflected in that kind of narrative.
He explained that he never thought of himself as someone people would find attractive or see as a romantic lead. He was amazed by the power of television to allow viewers to connect with characters and change how they’re perceived in the world.
She explained how playing this character could be empowering for women, helping them feel confident and desirable. She believes art has the power to change how people see themselves and the world around them, creating a positive internal shift.
