I Need Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars To Reunite Thor & Hulk After 13-Year Story Arc
To catch up on the continuing saga of two original Avengers, I require both films, “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for a significant crossover event with the upcoming release of “Avengers: Doomsday.” With the cast announcements for the film set to hit in March 2025, it’s evident that the MCU movie promises to bring back many familiar faces as part of the franchise. Notably, several actors from the Fox X-Men movies are expected to reprise their roles in this production, marking a return after many years.
It’s worth mentioning that not all main Marvel Cinatic Universe (MCU) characters have been confirmed for the upcoming Avengers films yet, although it’s likely they will show up, especially since the cast list for Avengers: Secret Wars is currently small. As more announcements are expected closer to filming and release, we can only hope that both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will include at least one more original MCU Avenger who isn’t currently part of the team, in order to bring back a vital Marvel pairing.
Thor & Hulk’s Joint Story Has Been Developed Since 2012’s The Avengers
The tales of Thor and Hulk were established prior to The Avengers, but their relationship started taking shape in the MCU’s first crossover film, where they evolved from forced teammates to voluntary collaborators who cooperated effectively. This is particularly significant for this specific duo as The Avengers depicts them engaging in combat following Banner’s transformation into the Hulk, and later shows the Hulk delivering a powerful punch to Thor, possibly as retaliation for their earlier altercation with the Chitauri Leviathan.
Ragnarok where they engage in fights, arguments, and mutual insults. Despite their disagreements, they unite to flee Sakaar, return to Asgard, and protect the surviving Asgardians from Hela’s destruction, thus reinforcing their complex relationship and forging strong bonds between them.
At the outset of “Avengers: Infinity War,” it is Thor and Hulk who encounter Thanos. This initial encounter, significant for both characters, results in Hulk’s defeat and Loki’s death, which significantly alters Thor’s world for the worse. The fact that Thor rejoins the Avengers in “Avengers: Endgame” following his breakdown from these events is connected to Smart Hulk reaching out to meet Thor – a gesture reminiscent of how Thor helped Hulk earlier. This demonstrates that their stories intertwine and complement each other throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s timeline.
Thor & The Hulk Are Now 2 Of The 3 Remaining Original Avengers In The MCU
As a cinephile, I find it utterly compelling that the complex histories shared by Thor and the Hulk make their reunion in either “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Avengers: Secret Wars” not only plausible but also highly anticipated. Though only Thor has been officially confirmed for the first film, the interwoven nature of their backstories leaves room for the Green Goliath to join the fray.
However, there’s a more profound reason for this reunion that extends beyond their personal histories. You see, Thor, Hawkeye, and the Hulk are the last of the original Avengers who are actively saving the world as superheroes. This makes their presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) not just a nostalgic nod to the past but also a crucial element in driving the overarching story forward. Their continued involvement ensures that the legacy of the original team remains alive and well, making the MCU’s future narratives even more exciting.
Incorporating Hawkeye in the upcoming Avengers films would certainly be delightful, especially considering his connections to the fresh MCU character Kate Bishop and the potential Young Avengers team. However, rekindling the bond between Thor and Hulk in either “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Avengers: Secret Wars” could offer a more cohesive narrative, given their story has been interwoven for over a decade now. This move would also effectively stimulate nostalgia for the early days of the MCU while simultaneously propelling it towards a new epoch.
Certainly, bringing back the last three original Avengers could significantly shape the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), serving either as a fitting conclusion to certain narratives or as a foundation for intriguing new stories. The rivalrous personalities of Thor and Hulk might create an engaging dynamic between their apprentices, Love and Skaar, which would allow these characters to grow and evolve. Even if they only appeared in a single fight scene, this interaction could contribute significantly to their development.
Continuing Thor & Hulk’s Separate And Joint Stories In The Avengers Movies Makes Perfect Sense
If Thor and Hulk don’t get summoned away for the events of Avengers: Doomsday from their respective realms, it seems only natural that they would appear together in the Avengers films. Although they have families to consider now, a catastrophe that threatens the universe or even multiple universes would be something they’d both strive to prevent. Their historical ties to the original Avengers make them ideal choices for mobilization if any new threats to Earth demand the assembly of Marvel’s superheroes.
Regardless of whether Thor and the Hulk are part of the future Avengers team or not, since their stories are still ongoing, it might require an in-story reason if they don’t appear in the next Avengers films. This has been seen before in movies like Captain America: Civil War. Such a scenario could potentially be more intricate than simply having them present. However, given the excitement of seeing two powerful Avengers go up against Doctor Doom and considering the involvement of both characters in the comic book’s Secret Wars, it seems more logical to include them in the storyline.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible journey Thor and the Hulk have embarked on since their first encounter. Honoring these two iconic Marvel Cinatic Universe (MCU) characters, who have a rich history and an intricate shared storyline, seems like a no-brainer. The MCU excels at allowing viewers to bond with its characters and the epic narratives they live through over time.
Moreover, such a move would undeniably pave the way for electrifying action sequences where this dynamic duo can once again take on common adversaries, which would undoubtedly intensify the excitement for films like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
