As a devoted follower of Davina McCall’s journey, I find myself deeply moved by her recent health scare. This woman, who has always been a beacon of strength and resilience, has once again demonstrated her indomitable spirit in the face of adversity.

Approximately two and a half months back, Davina McCall seemed to be in excellent health. Brimming with vitality, she energetically entered an ITV office in West London, where we discussed the upcoming season of My Mum, Your Dad – ITV’s adult version of Love Island.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I recently found myself engrossed in an animated conversation with a vibrant woman. She was resplendent in a soft, pale blue tweed ensemble – a jacket and mini-skirt harmoniously paired with sleek black loafers and crisp white socks. This vivacious lady eagerly shared tales from her recent summer getaway, where she captured an Instagram-worthy moment of herself donning a bold red bikini and cowboy boots.

Additionally, she discussed the recent relocation of her eldest child, Holly who is 23 years old, to Manchester. Just like any other mother, she went shopping for household items at Ikea, preparing Holly’s new residence as comfortably as possible.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’ve recently embarked on a journey with the Couch to 5K app, aiming to regain my running stride and pace.

Overflowing with delight, I couldn’t help but keep Davina’s radiant smile pinned on my face throughout our heart-to-heart conversation that lasted a precious 40 minutes. She gushed about her beloved partner, Michael Douglas – the talented hairdresser who has become an integral part of her life. With every word, I could feel her gratitude for finding love in her golden years, and it was truly inspiring to witness.

For Davina, life had reached an ideal state of joy, as good as it could get. She found herself occupied constantly, admitting that this was exactly how she preferred things to be.

Unbeknownst to her, mere weeks ahead lay the necessity of a brain operation to excise a benign growth, chilling in size at approximately 1.4 centimeters.

Yesterday, she courageously shared on Instagram that she has an exceptionally uncommon colloid cyst, one that affects only about 3 out of every million individuals. In her post, she mentioned that she expected to excel during a health scan but instead discovered she had a benign brain tumor, an occurrence that is extremely rare.

Initially, I chose to ignore the issue for some time, consulted a few neurosurgeons, received numerous opinions, and eventually understood that ignoring it was not an option. It appears rather large, about 14mm across, and requires removal as its continued growth could lead to complications. Therefore, I am undergoing the procedure to have it taken out.

Always optimistic, Davina – having celebrated her 57th birthday recently – expressed: “Feel free to offer a thought for me. I’m feeling upbeat.

Previously known as the host of Big Brother, she clarified that although there was no imminent danger for her, medical professionals expressed worries that the growth might lead to complications if it grew larger.

The celebrity shared that her emotions have been fluctuating, and she clarified that she will be admitted to the hospital for a minimum of nine days, after which she plans to return home.

According to friends, the last few weeks have been quite challenging, but despite the difficult situation, Davina has been managing remarkably well following the revelation from her regular health checkup.

Once more, Douglas, aged 49, proved to be her rock, having been her personal hairstylist prior to their relationship’s inception in 2018.

It was he who uploaded the video for her, writing on the post: ‘Hey everyone. Michael here. She will be ‘off grid’ for a bit while she recovers from this brain operation.

She’s looking fantastic and being well taken care of. I’ll occasionally post updates from her account for those who might be curious.

She’ll definitely take a look at all the comments when she can, so don’t hesitate to share some love. The strength of human support is truly incredible. Wishing you all a fantastic day. Michael with love.

And yesterday morning she went into surgery. ‘Davina has been very brave,’ said a friend. ‘It hasn’t been easy for her and while it is very lucky that the tumour is benign, it is still terrifying to go through something. It came as a surprise, a shock.’

Upon her recent announcement, I, too, found myself joining a chorus of well-wishers on social media platforms, among them Amanda Holden, Holly Willoughby, and Rylan Clark, who expressed their affection in response.

In simpler terms, Holly said, “I’m sending you an abundance of love,” and Amanda responded, “I’m sending you lots of love.” Both messages convey a similar sentiment of expressing deep affection.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I find myself compelled to express my sentiments in this moment. Much like the compassionate soul that Rylan became known for on Celebrity Big Brother and later, Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, I too would like to say: “We’re all thinking of you with warmth and admiration.

In another development, Olympic heptathlon gold medalist Dame Denise Lewis commented: “I love you, dear. You can do it. I’ll see you on the other side.

Learning about the diagnosis was completely unexpected for Davina. Having fought through her struggles with drug addiction during her twenties, she’s now dedicated her life to maintaining good health, taking it with utmost importance.

She has also been at the forefront of campaigning for better menopause care.

However, she will shift her attention towards overcoming the colloid cyst – a gradual-growing lesion usually situated in the central region of the brain. Many individuals experience headaches with this condition, while additional symptoms may include dizziness, issues with memory recall, and double vision.

In case a colloid cyst becomes sufficiently large, it might block the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid within the brain. This blockage could potentially escalate into a situation where there’s a significant risk of unexpected demise.

There is no known hereditary or environmental cause.

When I encountered Davina, who is the mother to Tilly, aged 21, and Chester, 17, in September, she boasted about her self-care routine. She disclosed that she recently stopped consuming sugar and opted for eggs at breakfast along with a good amount of oily fish – with no sweets afterward.

Regarding her workout routine, she shared that she works out approximately three to four days a week, as that’s the maximum time she can spare.

On most days, I’m quite active; I either climb the escalator or disembark a train a stop early to walk or run instead. This summer has been less rigorous with my workout routine, but I’ve managed to swim in the sea, dance at nightclubs, and go kayaking.

‘I do strength training now, weights, bicep curls, planking, squats with weights.’

However, it was Douglas whom she found particularly joyful after parting ways with her husband, Matthew Robertson, in 2017, a union that had lasted for 17 years. She often expressed her good fortune in encountering him, worrying about the prospect of loneliness in midlife without him. Yet, it’s in the present moment that she feels their bond is most essential.

My buddy mentioned that Michael is simply fantastic. He deeply cares for Davina and will provide tender care as she navigates this challenging and arduous period in her life.
