I Left with a Wife, Not a Husband!

At an emotional gathering hosted by Daily Mail Australia at the Ovolo Hotel in Woolloomooloo, bride Awhina Rutene from Married At First Sight shared that she departed with a partner who was more like a wife to her.

Overjoyed to be reunited with my dearest friend Jamie Marinos upon her return from Perth, I, Awhina (age 31), couldn’t help but embrace her warmly as we walked hand in hand. As luck would have it, I was also fortunate enough to be paired with the charming Adrian Araouzou, but on this particular day, my heart belonged solely to my beloved pal Jamie.

When asked about her feelings during the experiment where only Jamie, age 28, was by her side, Awhina replied that she didn’t end up with a husband but instead found a wife.

At certain points during the study, I felt incredibly lonely, but Jamie was always there for me. She was unfailingly supportive, Awhina explained, as she tightly gripped Jamie’s hand.

‘I didn’t leave with a husband but I left with a wife.’

‘We love the girl power. Our little trio,’ Jamie agreed.

In this very moment, finding myself overwhelmed with emotion, I exclaimed, “Ladies, we’re in this together!” Then, I turned to embrace my dear bride-to-be and friend, Beth Kelly, pulling her close alongside Jamie.

This season, Awhina and Jamie quickly formed a strong bond, and they’ve frequently been seen socializing together on various occasions since wrapping up their filming.

According to a source who spoke with Daily Mail Australia, Jamie and Awhina grew incredibly close following the completion of their film project. Now, they consider each other true friends, and for quite some time, they’ve been eagerly anticipating this particular night together.

During her stint on the show, Awhina was remarkably one of the few females who supported Jamie, and she was among the limited number of friends present to offer solace during Awhina and Jamie’s challenging period at their retreat.

Last month, I shared with Daily Mail Australia that Awhina had reprimanded our entire group for failing to support me when needed. To me, she truly embodies the qualities of an authentic friend.

After the chaos at the retreat, I found myself too upset to venture out of my room. However, Jacqui, Adrian, and Awhina each came by to see me following the incident.

On Sunday evening during the intense first reunion episode, Adrian, aged 31, and his partner Awhina decided to end their relationship following a shocking revelation by Sierah Swepstone. This disclosure, which rocked what was left of their romance, caused quite a stir.

31-year-old Sierah announced with anticipation that she was about to stir things up significantly, hinting at an intense exchange of words, right before she entered the Cocktail Party.

Sierah expressed eagerness to reach the party and share some strong words with everyone, stating that Awhina Rutene is extremely unpleasant. Tonight, she intends to publicly embarrass Awhina in front of everyone, an action likely to displease her greatly.

Previously, she referred to her former companions as “unpleasant women,” and Sierah claimed that her ex-husband Billy Belcher and Awhina were plotting together to tarnish her reputation during the reunion gathering.

In front of everyone, including Adrian himself, Sierah asserted the following about him: ‘You claimed Adrian is not intelligent, struggles with spelling, his business lacks credibility, he’s unfit to manage a business, and he treats people poorly.’

Surprised, Adrian looked at Awhina and queried whether she truly had said those words, leading Awhina to sheepishly acknowledge that parts of what she said were in fact correct.

As a matter of fact, Sierah isn’t someone I hold much importance towards, but the allegations Awhina made against me are indeed significant. To set the record straight, I haven’t uttered a single unkind word about her.

Later on, Awhina went up to Adrian and requested a conversation. However, Adrian curtly refused, stating that there was nothing further they needed to discuss between them.

‘No, you are not getting my time any more,’ Adrian told her, effectively ending their relationship.

Adrian shared his feelings with the camera, saying, “At this moment, Awhina has nothing to say to me that would make a difference. To me, being called ‘dumb’ is the ultimate insult, and I simply won’t stand for it.

Simultaneously, Awhina admitted that she was content with playing the antagonist in Adrian’s tale since he was far more vile in her own narrative.

Married At First Sight’s dramatic finale will air 7.30pm on Monday on Channel Nine.
