Let’s be honest, the world of *Jurassic World* doesn’t seem like a fun place to live. Those movies have taught us that dinosaurs are incredibly scary and simply can’t share the planet with people. The lead actress in the newest film, *Jurassic World Rebirth*, didn’t work with real dinosaurs, naturally, but she still faced off against some frightening and dangerous creatures.
Scarlett Johansson and the team filming *Jurassic World Rebirth* traveled to Thailand, including the provinces of Phang Nga, Krabi, and Trang, to shoot the movie. Johansson, who considers herself a city dweller, described encountering some “pretty serious creature critters.” She shared this story with *Today*, and it really captures the experience.
It was so strange – I’d be making coffee at the table, and then someone would point out they’d found a scorpion right there! I couldn’t believe it, especially since I’d just been using that same spot. We basically had a team of venomous creatures around – it sounds unbelievable, doesn’t it?
Apparently, the set of *Rebirth* was full of dangerous creatures! They even had a dedicated team whose job was to quickly remove anything poisonous. It sounds like an amazing – and slightly terrifying – place, and I definitely would have been excitedly pointing and yelling about it all.
Scarlett Johansson preferred filming in real locations, despite the challenges. She admitted one downside was encountering various creatures, and she’s particularly afraid of cockroaches. Adding to the difficulty, the movie was filmed during the rainy monsoon season. Johansson even described seeing her co-star, Mahershala Ali, visibly struggle with the heat on set.
The film got a mixed response from audiences and critics alike. Our review of *Jurassic World Rebirth* gave it a two-out-of-five-star rating, but another writer on our team actually said it was their favorite *Jurassic World* movie. Regardless of what you think, it’s clear Johansson deserves credit for persevering, even though she didn’t always enjoy working with some of her fellow actors.
Despite all the effort, it was definitely worth it! The movie *Rebirth* has become a massive hit in 2025, currently ranking as the number one film worldwide, and has made its star the highest-earning actor globally.
