I Had to Switch It Off
Noel Gallagher criticized Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Half Time Show, stating that he turned off the performance just a few minutes into it.
On a Sunday at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the 37-year-old rapper performed prior to the Philadelphia Eagles’ triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs.
57-year-old Noel openly expressed his opinions about Kendrick’s performance in a conversation about the game, as he appeared on TalkSport.
The actor from Oasis expressed that although he found the game enjoyable, he disagrees with halftime performances in general and considers them to be pointless or nonsensical.
He expressed: “I turned it off because it was utterly absurd. Frankly, I didn’t finish watching it. I only turned it off after seeing around 300 people exit a vehicle within the initial two minutes.
‘And it was like, how do they do that?’
As a devoted fan, I’ve never been fond of the extravagant halftime spectacles, often featuring artists that aren’t my cup of tea. However, when it comes to the Super Bowl, I find myself eagerly anticipating the event. This season, I’ve become particularly engaged.
‘It was a good season, I think – some great games.’
Last week following his triumph at the Grammys, Kendrick Lamar graced the stage during the highly anticipated Halftime performance. His thrilling 13-minute act included special guests such as SZA and tennis champion, Serena Williams.
As an unabashed enthusiast, I can’t help but express my admiration for the Pulitzer Prize-winning artist who kicked off his electrifying show by commandeering a vehicle’s roof. In a bold move, he subtly threw shade at his hip-hop counterpart, Drake, age 38, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the performance.
Regarding Drake’s recent lawsuit against Universal Music Group over the disputed track “Not Like Us,” where he is labeled as a ‘certified pedophile,’ it was noticed that Kendrick Lamar nonetheless executed the song during his performance, albeit without mentioning the offensive term.
It appears that the musician chose not to use a specific word in his performance to avoid another legal dispute. Just prior to rapping, he warned the audience, “I’d like to play their favorite song, but you know they’re always ready to sue.
Actor Samuel L. Jackson, aged 76, made an unexpected appearance on stage in a costume reminiscent of Uncle Sam, introducing the rapper. He then treated the audience to a mix of his popular songs. Later on, R&B artist SZA, who is 35 years old, joined him on stage.
Kendrick continued with two more contentious lyrics such as “I think you’ll find Drake prefers them young” and “struggling to hit the right note, perhaps it’s a diminished chord,” while the audience echoed his words.

Additionally, he donned a large silver chain necklace featuring a tiny ‘a’ charm, yet another nod to the minor key theme in Celine’s “A minor” lyrics and denim attire.
Over the weekend, I was honored to receive the prestigious Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, all thanks to my passionate diss track aimed at Drake. While he’s busy rocking out on tour in Australia, it seems the music world is appreciating my words more than ever!
Spectators heavily criticized the show on social media platforms, expressing their disapproval through posts such as “this is the worst half-time show I have ever seen, I’m not impressed.
It’s hard for me to determine if I’m biasing my opinion towards Kendrick, but honestly, I believe that was one of the weakest halftime shows I’ve watched in a while.
‘I thought The Weekend was bad but Kendrick Lamar took that spot! Worst half time show ever!’
‘So far the best part of the halftime show is Samuel L Jackson;’
‘Somehow Kendrick is worse than the game itself;’
‘This half time show at The Super Bowl by Kendrick Lamar is hot garbage… Worst of all time…’
