There’s been a lot of talk about the upcoming 2025 movie, The Dreadful, which may be named after a challenging on-set experience. Kit Harington and Sophie Turner, who famously played siblings in Game of Thrones, are a couple in the film, and both actors have admitted it was awkward having to kiss. Harington found the situation particularly strange for his own reasons.

Kit Harington recently told E! that he felt a bit strange about working with his former “Game of Thrones” co-star, Sophie Turner, on their new gothic romance film set during the Wars of the Roses. He was actually surprised that Turner didn’t share his hesitation, especially since she was the one who originally sent him the script, as he explained…

A friend recommended that movie to me, but surprisingly, she didn’t share my interpretation of it. I immediately thought the characters had a romantic connection, and it felt strange that she didn’t see it the same way.

Sophie Turner admitted that kissing her on-screen “brother” felt strange, but for Kit Harington, the awkwardness wasn’t the kiss itself. Instead, it was how they had to do it. It was a little awkward having to stand on a box to reach her – she’s a good foot taller than I am. But overall, I felt pretty good about myself.

Hollywood is really good at making actors appear to be the same height on screen, even when they’re not. It’s surprising to see how much taller one of these actors actually is compared to the other!

It’s surprising to learn that Sophie Turner is actually taller than Kit Harington! Online sources say she’s 5’9″, while he’s 5’8″. That’s only an inch difference, so he probably doesn’t need any help reaching her for a kiss. However, if the show wanted him to appear much taller, they would need to use a box.

Being on the shorter side myself, I can definitely understand how awkward it must be for someone like Kit Harington to have to stand on a box to look taller. But he’s not the only actor who’s had to do it – even Tom Cruise has! If one of the world’s biggest stars can handle that, it makes it seem a little less embarrassing for everyone else.
