As a huge TV fan, I know the feeling when a show you adore gets the axe. You go through this phase where you desperately hope someone will swoop in and save it – and sometimes it does happen, with shows finding new homes on different networks or streaming services. But eventually, you have to accept that you’ve seen all there will ever be of that world. So imagine my surprise when, after fifteen years, I heard Bryan Fuller hinting at a potential third season of Pushing Daisies! It was a total shock, and honestly, a little bit of hope rekindled.
If I had the power to bring back any cancelled TV show, I’d pick Pushing Daisies. It’s a show a lot of people wish had lasted longer, and it’s frequently mentioned whenever the topic of shows ending too soon comes up.
Okay, let me tell you, this show always walked a really interesting line – it was simultaneously incredibly sweet and wonderfully bizarre. Honestly, after waiting for what felt like forever, I’d completely lost hope of it ever coming back. But then, during a recent interview with Bryan Fuller – the creator – while promoting his new movie, Dust Bunny, he dropped some amazing news: he’s actively trying to make another season happen. And here’s what he had to say…
We’re currently developing Season 3, and everyone from the cast is eager to return. We have a complete story planned, and we’re hoping to begin production this year.
I’m genuinely surprised! I think I need to take a moment and process this. It’s common to hear creators talk about potentially revisiting old shows, but Dan Fuller is saying they’re actually working on a new season of Psych. Apparently, they have a story planned, the original cast is excited, and they’re aiming to start filming in 2026. While it’s not confirmed yet, this seems much more than just a hypothetical idea.
The show Pushing Daisies aired on ABC for two short seasons, from 2007 to 2009. It centered around Ned, a pie maker played by Lee Pace, who could temporarily revive the dead with just a touch. He used this unique ability to help solve criminal cases, all while running his pie shop, The Pie Hole. The show also starred Kristen Chenoweth, Chi McBride, and Anna Friel.
Looking back, this show was truly unique – maybe even one of the most unusual ever on television. What always struck me was its playful, lighthearted feel, which surprisingly contrasted with the murder mysteries it presented each week. I think that very contrast is what ultimately led to its quick cancellation, but also helped it gain a dedicated and passionate fanbase.
A major hurdle preventing a third season of Pushing Daisies from happening is finding a network or streaming service to broadcast it. Although the show originally aired on ABC, Warner Bros. produced it, and all 22 episodes are now available on HBO Max.

HBO Max subscriptions begin at $10.99 per month. If you haven’t seen the show Pushing Daisies, it’s definitely worth subscribing to HBO Max – you might just become a fan like many others! Check out the deal here.
While it’s been a while, a comeback for the show on ABC doesn’t seem probable, streaming services have brought back long-paused series before. I’m really hoping the show gets a creative boost and returns quickly.
