Manufacturer Hyperkin, famously recognized for bringing back the classic ‘Duke’ Xbox controller, has unveiled a new gamepad for Xbox that resembles the PlayStation 5 model, which they’ve dubbed ‘The Challenger’.
This newly designed controller, reminiscent of ‘The Competitor’ model, features hall effect thumbsticks located similar to those on the DualSense from PS5. It follows the d-pad design and face button arrangement from Sony’s gamepad. Unlike its pill-shaped start and select buttons, it sports round ones instead. Additionally, it comes equipped with a separate mute button for your convenience.
Similar to the DualSense, this competitor sports a two-tone black and white design, with its bumpers and triggers bearing a striking resemblance to those on the PS5 controller. However, it’s wired, catering to competitive players, and lacks a touchpad, instead featuring an Xbox guide button prominently at the front.
The specific launch date and cost for the revamped Competitor controller, compatible with both Xbox and PC platforms, have not been officially announced as of now. However, you can catch a glimpse of it by watching the following trailer, kindly provided by IGN.
