On a Thursday evening, Chad, the partner of Erin Bates, who stars on Bringing Up Bates, shared an emotional update regarding her health status.
The most recent update arrives during a distressing turn of events in her health, following her admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after delivering her seventh child on August 25th.
On Instagram yesterday, Chad, age 38, expressed that he’s feeling a multitude of feelings as he shares the news: last night, Erin experienced a prolonged and intense seizure.
So far, Erin had been showing signs of improvement with her infection. However, we have sadly returned to feelings of sorrow, doubt, and tears.
Chad mentioned that Erin is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where medical professionals are conducting various scans and tests to identify the reason behind her recent health decline.
According to Chad, Erin is incredibly frail and she has spent many hours in a semi-conscious state. He shared that, as her spouse, it’s one of the most challenging experiences he’s encountered – to be by her side, observing her struggle while feeling utterly powerless to alleviate her distress.

He went on to say: “My feelings for her run deeper than any words could convey, and I can barely conceive of a life devoid of my dearest friend.
Chad expressed that the hours had been prolonged and intense during these challenging times, but he also acknowledged that he wasn’t facing this storm on his own.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it as follows: “Just like many others, my heart yearns to witness her in this light. Yet, we cling to hope for recovery, finding solace even amidst the uncertainties.
‘Your prayers are felt and we are forever grateful.’
Following the disclosure that Erin endured a prolonged and intense childbirth ordeal to give birth to Henry, her partner, Chad, first reappeared on social media earlier this week to announce that Erin’s health situation is critical.
We just wanted to express our heartfelt gratitude for the prayers and support you’ve shown us during this time. A week has passed since our incredible event – baby Henry was born! As we speak, he’s thriving in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and brings nothing but joy to our lives.
In simpler terms, we requested prayers for Erin’s quick recovery as she faced complications during childbirth. This delivery proved to be more challenging and prolonged compared to her past experiences.
She’s persistently overcoming her struggles, serving as an inspiring beacon of grace for healthcare professionals. We’re all deeply touched by her compassion and gratitude amidst hardship.

He explained that Erin’s complex health issues were due to a severe urinary tract infection (UTI) and kidney infection, leading to septic shock.
‘She is currently still in the ICU as doctors continue to treat, diagnose, and search for answers.
We humbly ask for your prayers for this radiant young woman, who brings so much light into a challenging world. We hold steadfast to the assurances of God’s love and care. Sincerely, Chad.
In about 0.3% to 0.4% of all births, a serious yet uncommon complication called septic shock can develop.
Nevertheless, a report from the CDC in 2024 suggested an upward trend in complications related to this, with urinary tract infections (UTIs) being one of the most frequently encountered causes. In the United States, infections and sepsis rank as the second leading cause of maternal deaths.
Apart from Charles Steven IV (10 years old), Brooklyn Elise (8), Everly Hope (7), Holland Grace (5), Finley Marie (3), and baby William Gage (20 months), Bates and Paine are also blessed with their children.
In 2015, shortly before welcoming their firstborn, the couple shared with People that Bates had experienced multiple miscarriages as a result of a blood-clotting problem.
Enthusiasts promptly responded to Paine’s plea for a prayer, with one writing, “I am praying fervently that she recovers swiftly, in the name of Jesus! My prayers are also with her and for baby Henry in the NICU, hoping for their full healing.

Kneeling as a whole, the Roman family humbly prays for your family’s wellbeing. May the Lord bestow His grace, kindness, and mercy upon them. Amen.
One individual put forth the idea that the couple might want to ponder over whether adding more children to their family would be prudent. In a caring manner, they expressed it as, ‘I humbly propose that it’s time for you both to weigh the thought of not having any more babies. This could be your body signaling that it needs some rest now.’
Perhaps, it seems like she’s reached her limit with pregnancies. It’s quite frightening. I hope she continues to find the strength from above.
Bates is primarily recognized for being one of the 19 kids who starred on the reality series ‘Bringing Up Bates’ and its earlier version, ‘The United Bates of America.’
She and Paine, who shared their first kiss at the altar, married in November 2013.
Initially, she was 23 years old. Not long after their wedding ceremony, they announced that they were pregnant.
Regrettably, it was discovered that the baby wasn’t growing as expected, leading Erin to require a dilation and curettage procedure (D&C).

They named their miscarried child Angel Paine.
Erin endured two suffered two more devastating miscarriages after that.
Experiencing a miscarriage is one of the toughest ordeals. You create high hopes, get ready, fix a date in your mind, and it’s devastating when it doesn’t happen as planned. It feels like the world beneath you has crumbled apart. This was her sentiment at that moment.
As she continued speaking, she said, ‘Going through tough times can actually make you stronger. It encourages us to lean on each other for support. In fact, it also led us to look at others who were facing challenges and hopefully provide them with some inspiration to get through their difficulties as well.’
In 2021, Erin disclosed that she underwent three surgical procedures as a result of cysts bursting and inducing internal bleeding.
As a result, she had to have one ovary removed and most the other one as well.
She shared on Instagram that at times it’s been both frightening and disheartening, but we’ve felt incredibly thankful for the medical professionals who guided us through the uncertainties. Throughout this journey, God has been our steadfast companion, bestowing upon us a tranquility and fortitude that remains inexplicable.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must express my gratitude towards my partner who went above and beyond during my recovery process. He was not just a supportive presence but also attended to my needs diligently – like a devoted attendant throughout the day. This level of care and consideration truly helped me on my path to wellness.
The mother of seven stated that her partner is incredibly patient, considerate, and a good cook, surpassing her skills in laundry, dishes, and mopping. She also mentioned that his daily love notes often bring her to tears and joy simultaneously, and there’s nothing more delightful than hearing the children laugh heartily as he playfully chases them around the house for extended periods.
A year later, the reality star had her gallbladder removed.

The couple runs a business that produces custom scripture cards, stationery, and stickers, in addition to skincare products containing beef tallow and CDs showcasing Bates’s renditions of hymns and other spiritual music.
Besides operating their renowned YouTube channel, Bates and her spouse also find time to manage it, boasting an impressive 147K subscriber base. Here, they offer a glimpse into their domestic life while generously sharing delightful culinary creations.
In July, Erin shared insights on her homeschooling methods and provided a progress report on her pregnancy status.
As a devoted follower, I can share that she expressed her excitement by disclosing that they had already chosen a baby name, as she found it challenging to exercise patience and wait for the baby’s arrival.
She excitedly announced, “Henry Ble is our son’s name!” If it had been a daughter, she would have named her Harper Anne, spelled with an “E”.
She mentioned, ‘The anticipation is palpable. Sometimes it seems like it’s just around the corner, while other times it feels as if it’s an eternity off.’
