Hurts Star Drops Out of Anniversary Shows for Mental Health: ‘I’m Focusing on Well-Being’
A well-known musician is unable to perform at their forthcoming anniversary concerts, as announced by the band in a statement they issued on Monday.
The musical duo comprised of singer Theo Hutchcraft and instrumentalist Adam Anderson shared the news on Instagram a few weeks prior to the scheduled dates.
Adam shared that he won’t show up for the concerts scheduled at O2 Academy Brixton, London on May 22nd, or at Tempodrom in Berlin on May 24th.
He openly expressed: “For quite some time, I’ve been dealing with issues related to my mental well-being.
Regrettably, because I’m still recovering, I’ve had to make a tough choice and won’t be able to attend any HURTS shows this year. Instead, I’ll concentrate entirely on taking care of myself.
‘It hasn’t been an easy decision but it’s the right thing for me to do at this time.’
Adam went on to say: “I’d like to convey my affection and appreciation to Theo, as he has shown great understanding and encouraged me in taking this step.
The performances are set to proceed according to the original schedule, with Theo as the main act, and I’m thrilled beyond words that everything is going ahead.
I want to express my gratitude for the unwavering support you’ve given me personally and the band over all these years. I’ve always appreciated your loyalty and haven’t taken it for granted.
Rest assured, there’s no need for anyone to fret over me. I’m making every effort to recuperate, surrounded by a strong network of support. I eagerly anticipate my progress towards wellness.
Theo commented: “I get it entirely, and I admire his choice to pause live shows due to health concerns.
‘Adam and I have built this band together and he’s given everything to it over the last 15 years.
As long-standing friends and collaborators, it’s a pleasure to announce that I will share the stage with the remarkable band, Hurts, who have been part of our journey since day one.
Rest assured, we’ll breathe life into the vision and create a summer that will be unforgettable for everyone, whether you’re up close or enjoying from a distance. Take care, buddy! x

Back in October, Hurts unveiled plans for their two special anniversary shows, which are set to mark the 10th anniversary of their 2010 album, “Happiness.
In an interview with NME in 2017, Adam explained the reasons behind his decision to openly discuss his mental health challenges.
In my perspective, if I don’t share it with others, it can grow and become toxic within me. The next step I took was opening up and letting others know about it.
Theo stated: “It’s both an emotional and a physical health concern – something that requires attention. For many individuals, it’s not just an emotional matter but a medical one as well. This aspect is crucial. Let’s make an effort to listen to one another.
