Legacies, the beloved Vampire Diaries spin-off, is leaving Prime Video in just three days.
In a review on IMDb, the series was praised as “the sequel we’ve all been waiting for.” It made its debut in 2018 and spanned four seasons, with all episodes now accessible for streaming.
Belonging to The Vampire Diaries universe and unfolding two years post-The Originals spin-off, Legacies finds its focus on Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell), daughter of Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin). She enrolls at the Salvatore School, a boarding school for exceptional young beings, which is managed by Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis).
In addition to the main actors, Kaylee Bryant and Jenny Boyd play the roles of Josie and Lizzie Saltzman – daughters of Alaric and Caroline Forbes (previously portrayed by Candice King). Caroline later stepped in as their surrogate mother following Jo Laughlin’s demise. The characters were initially introduced on The Vampire Diaries series and made appearances on The Originals as well.
In this production, Aria Shahghasemi, Peyton Alex Smith, and Quincy Fouse play the roles of Landon Kirby, Rafael Waithe, and Milton “MG” Greasley, respectively.
Currently, season one of Legacies holds a respectable rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The review by TV Guide states that unlike previous shows, Legacies manages to maintain its connections to its origin while offering enjoyable references or hidden surprises.
As a dedicated gamer diving into the world of “Legacies”, I must admit, it blew my expectations out of the water! Initially, I might have rolled my eyes thinking the show was aiming too high. But let me tell you, it’s not just the grandeur that works here; it’s also the other engaging elements that make this show a thrilling ride. Now, I’m hooked, all in and eagerly anticipating each new episode!
While The Hollywood Reporter remarked, Legacies may not be strong enough for me to suggest watching it as a starting point for new viewers, but it moves quickly and maintains the overall atmosphere that fans of this storytelling world will recognize. Additionally, there’s a sense of comfort in knowing that it remains reliable.
