Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is 50% off right now in new Amazon deal

Hunger Games fans can now officially get their hands on prequel book Sunrise on the Reaping.

In Suzanne Collins’ newest installment of the popular series, we find ourselves following an older Haymitch Abernathy who gets chosen to participate in the 50th Hunger Games, often referred to as the Second Quarter Quell.

The dawn of “Harvest’s Sunrise” became available at midnight, and current fans can take advantage of a 50% discount in a fresh Amazon promotion.

The book is currently available to purchase for just £9.99, down from its original price of £19.99. The Kindle edition, which is available to read instantly, is £9.49.

At sunrise on the 50th year of the Hunger Games, a sense of dread fills the districts of Panem. In a special tribute to the Quarter Quell, double the number of participants will be selected from their homes.

In District 12, Haymitch Abernathy strives to keep his thoughts at bay regarding his prospects. What truly matters to him is simply getting through each day and being with the woman he cherishes deeply.

When Haymitch’s name is announced, he experiences a shattering of all his dreams. He is abruptly separated from his family and his beloved ones, whisked away to the Capitol along with three other District 12 representatives: a close friend who feels like a sister to him, a gambling enthusiast, and the town’s snobbish girl.

As the games commence, it becomes clear to Haymitch that his failure has been predestined. Yet, deep within him stirs a will to battle… a struggle that could echo resoundingly past the lethal confines of the arena.

The film version of the book is being developed as well, scheduled to hit cinemas on November 20, 2026.

In an announcement about the upcoming movie “Sunrise on the Reaping,” Collins stated, “I was inspired by David Hume’s concept of implicit submission and his idea that ‘the many are easily governed by the few.’ This is a quote from him.

“The story also lent itself to a deeper dive into the use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative. The question ‘Real or not real?’ seems more pressing to me every day.”

The film follows 2023 prequel movie The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which told the story of a young Coriolanus Snow.

Sunrise on the Reaping will arrive in cinemas on November 20, 2026.
