Hughie and The Deep Finally Share a Scene After 4 Seasons
As an ardent fan, I’ve been amazed to see how The Boys have skillfully maintained a distance between key characters Hughie and the team across four thrilling seasons. This captivating Amazon Prime Video series never fails to keep me on the edge of my seat as it follows the gripping tale of Hughie, our protagonist, and his band of misfits, squaring off against Vought International and their formidable lineup of super-powered individuals, including Homelander and The Deep. Through its engaging narrative, the series has introduced a host of main and recurring characters, some making brief appearances or leaving us at various points, while others remain integral to the unfolding action.
It’s common for characters from The Boys series to either collaborate or clash, but at least once, they have crossed paths. Hughie, an ordinary employee at Bryman Audio Visual and our main protagonist, was persuaded by Butcher to take on the supes after A-Train accidentally killed his girlfriend in season 1. Since then, Hughie has worked alongside The Boys and engaged with almost every significant superhuman character, regardless of their public image or ties to Vought. However, one particular character, also a part of The Boys since the beginning, hasn’t had any direct interaction with Hughie yet.
Hughie & The Deep Don’t Have Any Scenes Together In The Boys Seasons 1-4
Both Have Been Main Characters Throughout
In the series The Boys, Hughie and The Deep, both characters who have been there since day one, surprisingly haven’t shared a single scene together. This is quite unexpected given Hughie’s significant role in taking down Vought and The Seven. After uncovering the truth about Compound V and the corrupt world of superheroes, Hughie and the gang found themselves squarely on Homelander’s hit list. Homelander, a ruthless and now politically charged super, has been a constant threat from the start. Interestingly, The Deep, who has had run-ins with The Boys, seems to have consistently avoided facing off against Hughie.
In “Over the Hill with the Swords of a Thousand Men”, which is the third episode of The Boys’ second season, Hughie and The Deep had their closest encounter. During an unforgettable scene, Hughie was on a boat that plowed through a whale that The Deep had placed as an obstacle for The Boys to escape. However, when grilled by Homelander, The Deep admitted he didn’t get a clear view of them. Prior to Hughie and Starlight (Annie) becoming a serious couple, there was another contentious event involving The Deep in season 1, but that happened earlier.
Hughie & The Deep Should Have A Scene Together In Season 5
This Would Be Their Last Chance
Since The Boys series is wrapping up with season 5, Hughie and The Deep have one last opportunity to share a scene together. Various situations could unfold as the characters grapple with personal conflicts and the ongoing struggle between The Boys and The Seven. One possible plotline might revolve around Starlight, who seemed to reconcile with Hughie in The Boys‘ season 4 finale, but has since been subjected to torment from Homelander and his allies. If The Seven persist in targeting Starlight, Hughie may feel compelled to step in directly against The Deep, who has been growing increasingly loyal to Homelander.
As the fourth season of The Boys comes to a close, Hughie finds himself captured by Vought, now collaborating with the U.S. administration, while The Deep grows progressively hostile, targeting Vought staff and yearning for recognition from others. Whether or not we’ll see more interactions between Hughie and The Deep is yet to be determined. However, it would be beneficial for The Boys to explore these characters sharing screen time, given that the battles between The Boys and The Seven have escalated to unprecedented levels, and considering they’ve been kept apart until now.
As a dedicated fan eagerly awaiting season 5 of “The Boys,” I can’t help but wonder if Hughie and The Deep will share a scene together at last. With the intricate plot twists and high-stakes situations, it’s anyone’s guess how they might cross paths again. Given their status as original main characters since day one, it feels only fitting that we get to see an interaction between them before the series concludes. I can hardly wait to see how this long-anticipated meeting unfolds!
