Hugh Jackman’s hit musical is back with a “truly thrilling” adaptation and new songs

Hugh Jackman’s beloved movie musical The Greatest Showman is coming to the stage.

Today, it’s officially announced that a stage version of the 2017 movie featuring Zendaya and Zac Efron will debut. The world premiere is scheduled for the Bristol Hippodrome owned by ATG Entertainment in the spring of 2026.

Under the guidance of multiple Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw, who is both directing and choreographing, the forthcoming show promises to include timeless tunes that were originally composed for the movie, courtesy of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

From the movie, popular tracks such as “This Is Me,” “The Greatest Show,” “A Million Dreams,” “Come Alive,” and “Rewrite the Stars” are featured. Additionally, Pasek and Paul have written fresh tunes specifically for the stage adaptation of the story.

The composing duo expressed their excitement and amazement in a statement, saying they are continually astonished by how deeply the songs from “The Greatest Showman” seem to touch people worldwide. To now be able to perform these songs live on stage is an incredibly exciting prospect for them.

The musical is a theatrical production by Disney Theatrical Group, with Andrew Flatt as the managing director, Anne Quart serving as executive producer, and Thomas Schumacher in charge of creative direction.

For decades, no original film musical has been as warmly and universally accepted as The Greatest Showman. The songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have managed to carve out a special spot in people’s hearts,” the team stated upon revealing the project.

People loved the movie’s upbeat vibe, along with its exploration of self-exploration, connection, and the bonds we form. We’re thrilled to present it on stage as a theatrical version, marking another significant step in its remarkable journey. We can’t wait to witness how this extraordinarily gifted group of artists takes this cherished piece to even greater heights.

They stated: “Tim Federle belongs to the contemporary group of Disney storytellers. He’s making a comeback to Broadway following exceptional achievements in film and television. Casey Nicholaw, a significant figure in the success of Disney Theatrical Group, has an unmatched ability to blend humor and emotion in his acclaimed stage productions.

“Now we begin the search for the performers who will bring this story to life on stage.”

It appears none of the initial film actors are expected to return for the stage play. Instead, a nationwide talent hunt has begun, inviting fresh faces to audition in various locations throughout the UK.
