Hugh Jackman’s forgotten fantasy movie becomes a Netflix hit

This week, Hugh Jackman’s 2012 fantasy film “Rise of the Guardians” has been quite a hit on Netflix, ranking as the third most-viewed English-language movie on their streaming service.

According to William Joyce’s book The Guardians of Childhood, the animated movie revolves around a team of eternal protectors, including Santa Claus (portrayed by Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Jackman), and the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher). For countless generations, these guardians have safeguarded the world’s children from shadows of fear and sadness.

Yet, when the malevolent figure known as Pitch Black (portrayed by Jude Law) seeks to overpower the Guardians by erasing children’s faith in them, the responsibility of thwarting his plans falls upon a winter sprite named Jack Frost (played by Chris Pine).

Currently, “Rise of the Guardians” ranks third among English-language movies on Netflix in terms of viewership over the past week, with approximately 5.4 million views. It trails behind the adventure film “Alpha” and Sofia Carson’s recent romantic comedy release, “The Life List.

The movie was generally well-received by critics, garnering a ‘Fresh’ rating of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 160 reviews.

Similar to a team like The Avengers for younger audiences, ‘Rise of the Guardians’ boasts impressive animation and maintains a fast pace, however, its narrative is merely average.

In his words before the premiere, Pine likened the movie to the Avengers, expressing to Digital Spy: “Kudos to Bill Joyce for creating a concept that I believe everyone secretly wishes they thought of.

As kids, we were introduced to all these characters by our parents, and the thought that they might be acquainted with each other is quite fascinating. It’s almost as if they form a team similar to The Avengers, but for children. I find it incredibly clever.

Speaking as an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that right now, the incredible Hugh Jackman is gracing the stage for a 12-show run at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York City!

Entitled “From New York With Love, “, this show highlights a selection of the actor’s memorable performances from musical productions such as “The Greatest Showman“, “Les Misérables“, “The Boy From Oz“, and “The Music Man“. Additionally, it offers some delightful surprises for the audience.

The performance kicked off in January and will run on specific weekends until August 16th, covering April, May, June, and July. You can buy tickets through Ticketmaster.
