Hugh Grant recalls getting ‘smashed’ with Travis Kelce at a Taylor Swift concert
As a fan of timeless cinema and captivating performances, I found myself utterly enchanted by Hugh Grant’s recent escapade at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. The man who once made us fall in love with Julia Roberts in Notting Hill was not just a spectator this time; he was a fellow reveler, sharing the joy of music with his daughter and an array of other celebrities.
Despite his daughter being a more dedicated Taylor Swift fan, Hugh Grant himself enjoyed their shared experience at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
As a movie aficionado, I was privileged to be part of the electrifying crowd at the second of eight shows that Taylor Swift performed this summer at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium. Sharing the VIP scene with me were none other than Rachel Zegler and the illustrious Tom Cruise in a lively tent that buzzed with excitement, reminiscent of the energy seen in some of the most memorable film sets. The night before, none other than Prince William graced the stage, adding to the royal charm of the event.
In an interview with NME, published on Tuesday, the director of the upcoming A24 horror film “Heretic”, identified as Grant, revealed that it was because of his daughter’s enthusiasm for Taylor Swift that he initially approached her team.
“I put out some feelers, and to my astonishment, they said, ‘Yeah, come along,’ ” he said.
As his daughter and her companion danced enthusiastically to each tune, Grant joined forces with Travis Kelce, NFL tight end and Swift’s boyfriend. They were seen sharing shots of tequila and getting quite intoxicated, along with a few others who appeared to be rappers.
In a post the next day, Grant expressed: “Dear @taylorswift13 , Your show is phenomenal, your team is wonderful and considerate, and your boyfriend is impressive, to say the least. Cheers from an old London man, his wife, and our overjoyed 8-year-old.
In response, Swift said: “For me, as a devoted fan of Hugh Grant for a long time, this tweet holds significant value within my cultural sphere.
Remembering her very kind feelings, Grant shared with NME that Taylor Swift, who put on a three-hour, multi-million dollar performance, presented an “exceptionally impressive” spectacle.
Indeed, Swift seems to keep calm even in the face of wardrobe mishaps and stage malfunctions.
On her third and last visit to New Orleans on a Sunday evening, the Grammy award recipient was in the midst of performing “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” when all of a sudden, the mobile silver stage platform (known as the “Tayoomba”) ceased functioning. This device usually moves throughout the entire song, allowing Swift to move and jump on it.
Swift gracefully strutted and sang along, accompanied by her dancers, while making her way down the runway. For the first time, she also performed “Down Bad,” a song from her album “The Tortured Poets Department,” off-stage.
Nevertheless, the malfunction of the stage didn’t steal the spotlight during Swift’s New Orleans performances. On Saturday evening, the wealthy songwriter invited Sabrina Carpenter to join her on stage for a performance that included a medley of Carpenter’s recent singles “Espresso” and “Please Please Please”, as well as Swift’s own “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)”. This collaborative moment was undoubtedly the highlight of the show.
Following her standout appearance, Carpenter expressed gratitude to Swift via Instagram, saying “thank you for working overtime, thank you for being a singer, and thank you for allowing me to be there.” She referred to Swift’s platform as the “only stage I’d ever want to witness on a day off.
The carpenter had a break from her demanding tour itinerary, as stated on Instagram by Swift on Tuesday. Her performance is both energetic and breathtaking, and instead of resting during her downtime, she could have chosen to do so.
Nevertheless, the previous Disney Channel celebrity made an effort to offer fans an unexpected delight. She’s genuine through and through, and I’m grateful she chose to do this for us, Swift remarked, sharing a picture of them together on stage.
Swift’s tour carries on next November 1st in Indianapolis, marking the final U.S. destination on the itinerary, before wrapping up in December in Vancouver.
