Hugh Grant has hilarious response to Colin Firth’s surprise Bridget Jones 4 role
As a die-hard fan who’s grown up with Bridget Jones and her chaotic love life, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia as I hear the news about the fourth film in the series. The trailer for “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” has dropped, and it looks like Mark Darcy (played by the ever-charming Colin Firth) will be making an appearance, albeit in a rather unconventional way – as a figment of Bridget’s imagination.
Hugh Grant has spoken out about the recent revelation that Colin Firth will reprise his role for the upcoming fourth “Bridget Jones” movie.
It was clear that the story of “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” would revolve around Bridget juggling motherhood and seeking new romance after Mark Darcy’s demise, similar to its source novel.
This week’s trailer hints that Colin Firth appears in the movie, though his role seems to be a memory or an imagined sequence from Bridget’s perspective.
Hugh Grant, returning in the latest movie, playfully teased his longtime buddy yet again following the revelation, maintaining his tradition of humorous digs.
“Poor Colin. They’re still wheeling him out,” he said on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week.
It’s alright. In fact, I think it’s good for him to have something to do… You know, he seems well. He’s actually had quite a bit of maintenance.
I might not express this openly, but the work is absolutely fantastic. The artist behind it certainly possesses skill. They also have a knack for makeup application, as they do it themselves.
Earlier, Grant had characterized the fourth Bridget Jones movie as both “sad” and “hilarious.” Additionally, he confessed to penning a few scenes himself.
However, he did explain that he isn’t actually in it all that much.
If you want to see Hugh Grant on the big screen, he’s currently starring in the horror film Heretic. Meanwhile, Four Weddings and a Funeral was shown on BBC One last night, meaning it’s on iPlayer.
The movie “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” is set to hit UK cinemas on Valentine’s Day 2025. If you haven’t seen the first three Bridget Jones films yet, you can catch them right now on Netflix. In the U.S., however, “Mad About the Boy” will debut directly on Peacock for streaming.
