Hugely popular ITV crime drama with The Split’s Nicola Walker gets added to UK streamer

ITV’s hit crime drama Unforgotten has been added to Disney+ in the UK.

You can now stream seasons one through five, and it’s expected that season six, which ended its broadcast on ITV in February, will become available soon.

In the initial four seasons, the popular series features Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar portraying detective characters DCI Cassie Stuart and DS Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, who work tirelessly to solve long-standing mysteries surrounding murders and disappearances.

In the gaming world, I’d say it like this: At the conclusion of season four, my main character was unexpectedly sidelined in a heart-wrenching fashion. But then, in season five, a new character named DCI Jessie James, portrayed by Sinéad Keenan, entered the scene, taking center stage alongside Bhaskar. It’s a fresh start, and I can’t wait to see where this new journey takes us!

Initially hesitant due to Walker’s exit, Keenan ultimately agreed to participate in the show once she was captivated by the exceptional screenplays.

Speaking about joining an already popular series, she mentioned, “Entering a well-established show feels remarkably distinct. Given that I’d previously watched the show and appreciated Nicola’s performance greatly, I initially hesitated to even consider the scripts. However, upon reading them, I found they were exceptional.

In our conversation, my agent told me, “It seems the position is quite charming,” to which I responded, “Well, it sounds like you’re trying to persuade me now.” My concern was that I wasn’t comfortable with the idea of replacing a ‘Cassie-like’ role.

Following closely behind the finale of “Unforgotten” in February, ITV has confirmed that the series will return for a seventh season.

Chris Lang, the mastermind behind the show, expressed his excitement in a statement about penning new episodes for “Unforgotten“. He’s thrilled to return to the world of Sunny, Jess, and their exceptional team, who will delve into yet another unsolved mystery from the past.

You can stream all six unforgettable seasons of the show on both ITVX and STV Player. Meanwhile, seasons 1 through 5 are accessible for streaming on Disney+.
