Oh, my heart is racing and my eyes are glistening with joy as I read the news about the Scissor Sisters’ reunion! As a fan who has lived through the noughties and beyond, I can confidently say that this band has left an indelible mark on my life. Their music was a beacon of light in those dark, dance-starved times, and their return feels like a much-needed ray of sunshine breaking through the clouds.

The Scissor Sisters have revealed plans to perform together again for a series of concerts in 2025, marking the 20-year milestone since the release of their first studio album.

In a fun and simple rephrasing: The well-liked band from the ’00s, famous for their popular song “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing,” has announced plans to perform in 10 different cities across the UK. Cities on the tour include Glasgow, Cardiff, London, and Manchester.

2024 will be the 20th anniversary of the release of the debut album by the Scissor Sisters, which is among the top 40 best-selling albums in the UK.

In May of next year, the groundbreaking pop revolutionaries, frontman Jake Shears alongside Babydaddy on multiple instruments and Del Marquis on guitar, will bring their unique blend of chart-topping tunes to arenas across the UK.

On their upcoming tour, the band intends to play every song from the album, along with standout tracks from their three following albums: Ta-Dah (2006), Night Work (2010), and Magic Hour (2012).

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement! It’s been twenty years since our beloved band released its debut album. Time seems to have flown by, but this milestone has me feeling like it’s yesterday all over again, reliving the intense thrill and anticipation that filled us back then.

It seems like the reason for this gathering might have been triggered by watching the Scissor Sisters: Live at The O2 on YouTube, which took place during the lockdown period.

I haven’t watched that series since its production in 2007, but when we recently re-screened it, everyone was taken aback by how fantastic it still is. Conversing with fans during the viewing reminded me of just how unique and memorable an experience it was for all involved.

As a leading voice in the music scene, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of pride and uniqueness when reflecting on our journey as a gay/queer band. Our album truly made waves, breaking barriers and paving the way for others like us to thrive in the mainstream. It’s an experience that makes our story all the more extraordinary.

20 years ago, fewer queer acts were making a significant impact as they are now, so we’d like to explore that time period again.

‘Back then, our bold move of publicly identifying as part of the LGBTQ+ community was truly groundbreaking. It helped bring queer culture into the mainstream when it was scarcely represented.’

Del mentions that there’ll consistently be a hint of disorderliness and uproar during our performances. This unpredictable spirit is the unique charm of Scissor Sisters, and we’re eager to reintroduce that thrilling “who knows what might happen” vibe.

This time, I aim to fully immerse myself on stage, savoring our good fortune for having accomplished what we did. Reflecting back, I believe that I wasn’t emotionally equipped to handle everything as it unfolded so swiftly in the past.

In 2004, the Scissor Sisters’ album was the highest-selling record in the United Kingdom, with more than three million copies sold worldwide. An impressive two million of those were purchased by British consumers.

The Scissor Sisters’ album was a massive success, becoming the 20th highest-selling album of the 21st century in the UK and the 35th best-selling album of all time. It achieved a whopping nine times Platinum status in the UK, and in 2005, it swept up three BRIT Awards for Best International Album, Best International Group, and Best International Breakthrough Act. This made the Scissor Sisters the first act to ever win all three international categories at the BRIT Awards.

The tour’s atmosphere will change since singer Ana Matronic has opted out, as she currently has other commitments to attend to.

BabyDaddy remarked, ‘This is the one-time occurrence of our 20th anniversary; it’s high time we should celebrate that album.’

Del mentioned, “We’ve been brainstorming a lot on how we can enrich our performance without making it seem like a substitute for Ana. She embodies the essence of our band, and we aim to respect that.

As a lifestyle expert, I can tell you that for Jake, reuniting as a trio brings about the exciting challenge of shaping their live show after a 12-year hiatus. To put it simply, he believes if they’re going to do something new, why not make it an intriguing twist on the familiar?

Pre-sales for tickets start on Wednesday, November 6th at 9 am. The general public sale commences two days later, on Friday, November 8th also at 9 am.
