Huang Yulong Unveils ‘UPWARD’ Exhibition at Hong Kong’s Iconic Harbourfront

Modern Chinese sculptor, Huang Yulong, recently revealed his outdoor exhibit titled “UPWARD” near the Hong Kong Observation Wheel and AIA Vitality Park, a well-known waterfront area in the city.

This distinctive installation is constructed to convey optimism and a progressive outlook, featuring twenty life-size figures, all adorned with hoods, in different poses, gazing at the Hong Kong skyline. Renowned for his style inspired by hip-hop and street culture, Yulong takes his work to extraordinary levels in this collection, aspiring to promote community, openness, and youth involvement. This installation serves as a potent emblem of positivity during one of Hong Kong’s most bustling cultural periods.

Apart from the exhibition, one of the artist’s notable pieces, titled “Be My Side L,” has been purchased for long-term public viewing at the location. Moreover, Huang is scheduled to present more sculptures at Art Basel Hong Kong, extending his collaboration with Ora-Ora after a successful debut in 2024.

During Art Month, the exhibitions titled UPWARD will be held at both the Hong Kong Observation Wheel and AIA Vitality Park. These events are scheduled from March 12-20 and a second round from March 24-31. The exhibition includes public viewing hours, as well as an exclusive Art Week event on March 25, which is open only to guests.
