HoYoverse’s insane ‘future projects’ lineup has everything covered from RPGs to Shooters

Story Highlights

  • HoYoverse is reportedly working on multiple new projects, including a life sim, a hero shooter, and a space survival game.
  • The concept development stems from multiple job listings by HoYoverse.
  • Though none have been officially confirmed, HoYoverse may be expanding beyond gacha RPGs.

I thought HoYoverse might be settling in for the new Honkai IP game, but it looks like they’ve got their sights set on multiple future projects. While none of these have been officially confirmed, recent job postings and recruitment showcases give us a glimpse into their work.

HoYoverse future projects that are reportedly in development

Currently, we do know HoYoverse is working on a couple of new games, but it looks like the list is pretty long from the showcase concepts listed. No confirmed titles or visuals for any of the games listed are floating, so these are just the overviews from the concept stage.

1. Petit Planet

Genre: Simulation

Initially, our first projected game was similar to “Animal Crossing,” and it got officially named “Astaweave Haven” last year. There were whispers that it might change its name to “Petit Planet,” but so far, an official announcement about the new title has not been made. This upcoming game is said to be a farming simulation experience.

This is also listed as a Life Simulation game with Anthropomorphic (having human characteristics) Animals. The game will have a strong user-generated content (UGC) system, allowing you to customize and build your world. Sounds interesting, for sure.

2. Modern City RPG

Genre: Open-World RPG

No visuals, again. This project appears to be an open-world RPG set in a modern city, featuring multiple storylines and stylized visuals. Built-in Unreal Engine 5 with Physically Based Rendering (PBR), so we can expect an immersive environment with futuristic elements.

3. Realistic Fantasy Action RPG

Genre: Action RPG

It might be the same as the 2nd game listed, but it is differentiating due to the ‘modern and realistic‘ difference. This is said to be a fantasy action RPG featuring an open-world setting. Again, using Unreal Engine 5 and PBR, might blend fantasy creatures with a rich, grounded storyline.

4. Honkai IP Pre-Research Project

Genre: RPG

The Honkai universe expansion I previously mentioned is set to be another addition to the IP, with the main titles being Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai: Star Rail. It appears that development is still in its early stages. This upcoming game is described as a role-playing game (RPG) taking place in a modern town, blending fantasy elements and life simulation mechanics.

5. Cartoon-Style Hero Shooter

Genre: Shooter

I’m very curious about this. If this game is in development, HoYoverse is stepping into the competitive multiplayer space with a hero shooter game featuring a Western cartoon-inspired art style. Rumored to be set in a near-future fantasy world, this project could be their answer to games like Overwatch or Valorant.

6. Social Life Sim with City Exploration

Genre: Social Simulation

This project looks to include city life and environmental themes. You will engage in everyday activities such as food, clothing, housing, and transportation. It seems to be suggesting a social sandbox experience where there will be interactions and a lot of social features.

7. AI-Driven Space Survival Game

Genre: Roguelike Survival Adventure

One of the most interesting ideas floating around is a space survival game where AI-driven interactions shape the story. The way it’s described, your choices will directly influence the protagonist’s fate, which sounds like a roguelike narrative experience with unpredictable outcomes.

Not gonna lie, this space survival game could be something totally fresh, but we really don’t know how it’ll turn out or if it’ll even make it to release.

HoYoverse is currently mum about its future projects

Either way, most of the games listed here have got me hyped to see what HoYoverse might be cooking. It’s clear that HoYoverse is expanding beyond its usual gacha RPG formula, and with new genre releases, they might be looking at an immense next couple of years or even more.

Again, let me remind you that these are still concepts, so there’s no telling when or if they’ll become full-fledged releases, and even if they do, I’m not sure how many will make their way to mobile. Still, the upcoming games from HoYoverse are something to be hyped for.
