How Triple J Hottest 100 Stars Splurged Their Millions After Controversial 2025 Win

For this year, The Triple J Hottest 100 has come to an end, a music competition that consistently sparks debate among its audience. However, there’s no denying that for the artists fortunate enough to be included, it significantly boosts their visibility and often contributes to their substantial wealth.

Last weekend, American singer Chappell Roan stirred up controversy by winning the annual song competition hosted by the nation’s youth broadcaster. Her song “Good Luck Babe” has sparked calls for defunding the national broadcaster due to its controversial nature.

Second place went to the Australian guitar-pop duo, Royel Otis, for their rendition of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor.

As a devoted fan, I found myself in the top four spots, with U.S. pop sensation Billie Eilish holding down position three with her smash hit “Birds of a Feather.” UK artist Lola Young also made an impact, securing number four with her viral track “Messy.

In a recent event, an American artist claimed the fifth spot. The victory went to Gracie Abrams for her track “That’s So True.

The top ten list includes another hit by Eilish, this time a collaboration with the British artist Charli XCX (Guess), positioned at number six. At number seven is a song by Australian DJ Dom Dolla featuring girl$ (or girls).

Examining the ongoing discussion about the legitimacy of the Hottest 100, let’s explore instead how several prominent Australian musicians have utilized their music earnings in Australia.

Kylie Minogue

In a notable achievement, the renowned Australian singer found herself on the Triple J Hottest 100 list in 2023, thanks to her catchy tune “Padum Padum”.

After living in London for 30 years, Kylie recently headed back Down under to call Melbourne home.

She didn’t hold back financially when buying a lavish $8 million house located in the eastern suburbs, a purchase that took place in the year 2022.

The four-bedroom house is situated near both her pop star sister Dannii, who resides in Hawthorn East, and their shared parents in Canterbury.

This premium real estate boasts three bathrooms, stylish lounging spaces, and a dining area under the open sky equipped with an outdoor cooking station.

The light-filled home also features a wine cellar and vegetable garden

The garage meanwhile has enough room for eight cars.

In response to speculation in 2021 that she was moving back to her homeland permanently, Kylie verified this on BBC 2 radio.

She confirmed that she plans to reside in Australia, she expressed surprise at the response it’s generated, and shared that she’s received calls from her friends.

She had spent a considerable amount of time with her family in Australia this year, and it was truly wonderful. In fact, she’s been sharing this experience for some time now.

Kylie also offloaded a two-bedroom house in Armidale, that she purchased for $185,000 in 1990.

The Spinning Around hitmaker offloaded the property in 2021 for $1.715 million.

Fisher

Australian disc jockey Fisher, who placed second in an annual contest in 2018, is presently constructing a multi-story entertainment venue on the Gold Coast, which stands at nine stories tall.

In August of last year, Realestate.com.au announced that Fisher had bought a 413 square meter plot for $2.1 million in February 2020. Later on, in April of the same year, he also acquired the adjacent property for $3.1 million.

The design for Fisher’s Australian residence, given the green light by Gold Coast Council, encompasses: eight stories housing luxury, cozy residential spaces.

Additionally, the ground level of this facility includes a leisure area with a transparent swimming pool, fitness center, sauna, and ice tubs.

In my latest findings, I’ve come across six spacious three-bedroom, two-bathroom units that are set to cover approximately 292 square meters per level. That’s quite a living space!

Additionally, you’ll find a dual-tier penthouse with four spacious bedrooms, three modern baths, and a personal rooftop lounge area.

The spacious area will feature a pool, spa, gym and studio.

Tones and I

Known for inciting audiences to dance, this “Dance Monkey” song creator is equally renowned for clever real estate transactions.

Australian singer-songwriter Toni Watson, also known as Tones and I, has just bought a spacious four-bedroom home located in the southeastern part of Melbourne.

The family house, purchased for $720,000 in 2021, spread over an area larger than 800 square meters, offers three bedrooms and a standalone bungalow.

The bungalow serves as a separate dwelling but can be used as an office space.

Furthermore, in the year 2021, this successful song creator also acquired a luxurious mansion valued at approximately $7.08 million, which is situated on the Mornington Peninsula in Mount Eliza, Victoria.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about this modern residence that boasts a cutting-edge design. In the heart of your new home, you’ll find a cozy basement lounge, perfect for unwinding after a long day. Stepping outside, you’ll be greeted by a stunning pool and spa area, ideal for entertaining friends or simply enjoying the sunshine. The pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the marble-clad kitchen, complete with a state-of-the-art oven valued at $150,000 – a dream come true for any aspiring gourmet!

The spacious two-story manor boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and includes additional amenities such as a tennis court, an in-ground fireplace surrounded by seating, and a bar area.

Additionally, you’ll find color-shifting lights in the basement, a wine cellar holding over 3000 bottles, a cozy wine lounge, and panoramic views of the pool from beneath the water level.

2021 saw the musician experience a significant real estate year, as he invested $3.2 million in acquiring two properties situated next to each other in Byron Bay.

Amy Shark

The musician who’s famous for hits like “Adore” has often appeared on the Hottest 100 list and, in 2023, splurged approximately $2.1 million on a three-bathroom property for investment purposes, located at the Tweed Coast in New South Wales.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share the thrilling news: I, myself, have just moved from the sunny shores of the Gold Coast to the vibrant city of Sydney, and guess what? I splurged on a swanky new pad – all for the sake of hosting unforgettable get-togethers! (The Daily Telegraph reported this tidbit.)

2017 saw the construction of an enchanting beachfront estate, nestled mere steps (approximately 200 meters) away from the picturesque Casuarina Beach on the northeastern coastline of New South Wales.

Among its appealing aspects are an expansive open-concept kitchen, individually tailored sliding doors, a private in-ground swimming pool with a built-in barbecue zone.

The Australian Idol judge and her husband, Shane Billings, managed to acquire the property at a significantly reduced cost, since it had an original listing price of $2.35 million.

Amy also made a tidy profit after she sold her chic waterfront pad in Broadbeach in July last year.

In 2018, the singer and her spouse purchased a property at a cost of $2.8 million. Later on, they sold it for $3.65 million in July.
