How Tom Hardy prepared for “intense” fight scenes of his Netflix action thriller Havoc
If you’ve watched films like “The Raid” or “Gangs of London”, you’d recognize Gareth Evans as a top-notch action director. Interestingly, Tom Hardy experienced this genre for the first time in “Havoc”.
Critics have praised the upcoming Netflix action thriller as exceptionally violent, even before its premiere on Friday. They particularly highlight an intense scene taking place in a nightclub as one of the standout action sequences of the year thus far.
Gladly, I had a premonition about the intensity that lay ahead as we prepared to begin filming “Havoc“.

He shared that he put in a great deal of effort for it, and he’s grateful he did because the experience was challenging enough to match those who are incredibly athletic, alert, and concentrated. Fortunately, he has immense support from his stunt double, Jacob Tomuri, as he expressed to Digital Spy.
Every member of the group is skilled as a stunt performer, their role essentially making others appear more capable. Despite this, they support and elevate us in their area of mastery. I found it enjoyable to be included in such an exceptional team.
A memorable highlight from the series of club events occurs as the crooked police officer, played by Hardy, bursts forth and executes an aggressive running drop kick.
Unfortunately, it was indeed Jacob Tomuri who performed that daring feat, however, his preparation for this scene encompassed mastery over a phony pipe.
Evans playfully said, “If you kept playing like that with that pipe, you could have won the Masters,” to which Hardy replied, “That pipe-wielding fellow has moves in every direction – North, South, East, and West. You were really working that rubber and foam bat!
The club sequence left a lasting impression on Quelin Sepulveda, Hardy’s co-star, as it provided her an opportunity to speak loudly right into his face.
On that day, we concluded our work, and I found myself wide awake past 2:30 a.m., still buzzing with excitement. I remember thinking something along the lines of, “I’ve just yelled at Tom Hardy right in his face!” she reminisced.
To be honest, he truly became my mentor. He was incredibly kind, helpful, and playful towards me. I owe him a great debt.
You won’t need to wait a considerable amount of time to discover the excitement surrounding Havoc’s club scene, as you’ll find out soon enough.
Havoc is released on Netflix on 25 April.
