Why Did Tracy Ifeachor Leave The Pitt?

I was really bummed to see Dr. Heather Collins, played by Tracy Ifeachor, leave The Pitt after episode 11. It was a tough episode – we found out she’d actually had a miscarriage, and that’s why she was so upset when Robby sent her home early. It added a lot of emotional weight to her storyline.

The show’s creator explained the character’s departure with a practical storyline detail. Since the series takes place in a teaching hospital, a resident completes their training after four years. As executive producer John Wells told The Hollywood Reporter, this means not all doctors would still be working at the hospital when Season 2 begins, which is set ten months later.
