As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast with memories etched deep into my Jedi robes from watching the original trilogy at the tender age of five, I am beyond excited for the upcoming series, “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” on Disney+. The concept of four plucky kids embarking on a galaxy-spanning adventure aboard a mysterious ship is reminiscent of my own childhood dreams of stargazing and imagining what lay beyond our own solar system.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a new series coming to Disney+.
The story centers around four children who uncover a downed spaceship in their idyllic planet’s forest. These kids include Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), a dreamer seeking thrills, contrasting with his best friend Neel (Robert Timothy Smith). Also, there’s the headstrong Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) and her buddy KB (Kyriana Kratter). When the spacecraft unexpectedly lifts off while they are inside, they find themselves navigating a treacherous galaxy to return home. Fortunately, they encounter assistance from a Force-wielder named Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law) and the ship’s cranky first mate robot SM-33 (Nick Forst).
The children are spotted by pirates led by Captain Brutus (Fred Tatasciore), Gunter (Jaleel White), and Vane from The Mandalorian (Marti Matulis). Meanwhile, there’s turmoil on their home planet too. Fern’s mother Fara (Kerry Condon) senses something amiss and alerts Wim’s father Wendle (Tunde Adebimpe) about it. Can the kids manage to return home safely?
As stated by the creators, it’s unnecessary to be familiar with the happenings of the Mandoverse to enjoy Skeleton Crew.
Skeleton Crew also stars Mike Estes and Dale Soules.
