How to unlock the Target Lock Catalyst for Barrow-Dyad in Destiny 2

Destiny’s coolest SMG just got a whole lot better.

In Destiny 2, Episode Heresy’s Act 3 has arrived, bringing along one of the highly anticipated Exotic Catalysts for the weapon known as Barrow-Dyad: Locked-On Target.

Among numerous players, there’s a strong preference for the Target Lock upgrade when it comes to Submachine Gun (SMG) users. While High-Impact Reserves and One For All are highly valued, Target Lock stands out as a favorite due to its unique features. Acquiring it requires some additional steps though!

Here’s how to get the Target Lock Catalyst for Barrow-Dyad in Destiny 2.

To start off, make sure you’ve unraveled every secret in The Nether during the Hatchling catalyst mission and advanced through the Heresy Act 3 storyline by completing the Mission Dossiers!

How to get the Target Lock catalyst for Barrow-Dyad

Step 1: Complete the Hive Rune puzzle and destroy the hidden Blight in The Founts

It’s suggested that you perform most of your tasks within The Nether using Explore mode. Running it faster is possible if you invite a couple of friends along, but you can also do it alone if needed.

Navigate to The Nether and proceed until you arrive at The Founts room. In the heart of the room, you’ll find a group of three runes surrounding the massive, rotating Hive cryptolith. These runes correspond to the Hive doorways above them, with some additional ones scattered around those doors.

To locate the hidden treasure, aim for the three appropriate symbols. The sequence doesn’t matter. You’ll know you’ve succeeded when a chest pops up and the message “A secret of the Dreadnaught has been discovered!” appears on your screen.

After retrieving your rewards from the chest, take a moment to survey the pillars in the current room you’re in. You might find a solitary Hive symbol placed on a small plate on one of these pillars. Others have reported finding it on different pillars or coffins scattered across the room.

In this scenario, aim at the target and fire. As soon as you do, a doorway near its chest will appear. Hurry through it, then jump or fall into the pit that follows. Inside, you’ll discover a maze of narrow corridors teeming with adversaries. A debuff called “Suffocating Terror” will start counting down; if it reaches 15 stacks (approximately 30 to 40 seconds), it can prove fatal, so move swiftly!

In the heart of the maze, you’ll come across a Taken Corruption known as the Blight. Eliminate it to remove its advantage and uncover the secret. Upon completion, you’ll receive the Combination of the [Knife] – one of two necessary items!

Step 2: Find the Blight in Hull Breach and defeat the Taken boss

Once you’ve unraveled The Fount’s secrets, start a fresh version of The Nether. At the moment of writing, you should materialize within the Heresy Act 3 zone, Hull Breach. If this isn’t the case, complete the room you initially appear in, then verify if room two is Hull Breach. If not, continue until you reach there.

In the far corner of the map, opposite where the main boss resides, you’ll find a distinctive blue Cabal flag. Once you’ve accomplished the previous task and obtained your Coalescence of the [Knife], a Toland orb will be waiting for you right in front of that banner. Give it a scan, and an enemy named Skyburner’s Grudge will appear behind you, spawned from the Taken realm.

Overcome Skyburner’s Grudge, and in return, you’ll get a thing named “Legion Code”. You’ll need this for the subsequent action, which involves unlocking the Cabal barricade door right under you.

Step 3: Use the Cabal Legion Code to open the door

Head under the platform displaying the banner, where you’ll find the orange Cabal insignia (the shield). By using the Legion Code, you can open this door. Inside, you’ll find a randomly generated Minor Boon, along with the second assembly of the [Knife] (Coalescence).

Step 4: Find the Crossed Blades Tithe in Hull Breach and pick up the quest

Make your way towards the dark doorway situated to the right of the pair of illuminated columns on Hull Breach’s farthest wall. Inside, you’ll find a chest and an interactive panel called “Crossed Blades Tithe.” To engage with this panel, ensure that you have both Coalescence of the [Knife] in your possession.

Once you’ve wrapped up this interaction, a gateway will appear to your right. Step through and explore the treasures within; among them, you’ll find an item known as Warped Osseous Spine. You can then return to Eris Morn’s Apartment in the Last City and exchange this artifact for the Exotic Catalyst quest at the Shaping Slab.

Step 5: Collect all 10 Ravenous Wormspawn

At Eris’ apartment, consider adopting the Resolute Path if you haven’t done so yet. By doing this, you’ll be able to spot Wormspawn of the Ravenous kind in the Nether.

Return to The Nether and gather the Ravenous Wormspawn. You’ll spot them on your mini-map as you approach them. If you’ve already collected all eight of them so far, it’s probable that the last two are in Hull Breach – here are their locations:

This version maintains the original information while using simpler and more conversational language to make it easier for the reader to understand.

If you’ve acquired the Hull Breach Wormspawn, here’s a YouTube video by 360GameTV to help you find the rest of them!

Step 6: Complete the Derealize Exotic mission with Barrow-Dyad equipped

Lastly, initiate the Derealize Exotic mission utilizing Barrow-Dyad. Once finished, you will receive the Target Lock catalyst as a reward, which can then be used to enhance your Barrow-Dyad at The Enclave.
