As you become a more skilled hunter in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll encounter increasingly difficult monsters. Optional Quests provide some of the greatest challenges, and the ‘Proof of a Hero’ quest is particularly demanding, requiring players to demonstrate their skill, careful planning, and stamina.
This challenging quest tests players’ skills with several incredibly powerful monsters, and offers unique, highly-desired rewards, making it a popular hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Unlock Requirements of the Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds

You’ll need to become a Hunter with a rank of 100 or higher to start the Proof of a Hero quest. Once you reach HR 100, the first thing you need to do is complete the 10-star event quest called “Freedom from Solitude.” This quest requires you to defeat the Arch-Tempered Arkveld.
After that, you need to clear three 9-star Special Environment Optional Quests:
- Tango of Lives Ablaze
- Serenade of Scarlet Water
- The Wind ’n’ Sand Blues
These three quests become available once you reach Hunter Rank 100. After hitting that rank, talk to your Handler, Alma, and she’ll add Proof of a Hero to your list of optional quests.
If you join an online game, you’ll need to meet certain requirements. Also, joining a quest in progress using the SOS feature might mean you won’t get the special Nameplate reward.
After completing the quest, it rewards you with the following things:
- A unique Nameplate “Tempered Tales: Four Forbidden Kings
- The exclusive “Pride and Joy” Pendant (claimable from Alma)
- Zenny
- 5,000 Guild Points
- Gamma Certificates
- Timeworn Charms with a high chance of Rarity 7–8 talismans
- Battle-Tempered Emblems (used for reinforcing Gogma Artian weapons and other upgrades).
What to Expect in Proof of a Hero

The Proof of a Hero quest is located in Wounded Hollow and requires you to defeat four Arch-Tempered monsters one after another.
- Arch-Tempered Rey Dau
- Arch-Tempered Uth Duna
- Arch-Tempered Nu Udra
- Arch-Tempered Arkveld
Okay, so these enemies just keep spawning as I whittle down the main boss. It’s actually kinda cool because they’ll attack each other too! Smart players can use that to their benefit – let them fight it out while I deal damage. The only thing I gotta watch out for is the 50-minute timer for the whole fight, or it’s game over.
This quest focuses on battles, so choosing the right elements is key. Use Ice against Rey Dau, Thunder against Uth Duna, Water against Nu Udra, and Dragon against Arkveld for the best results.
Okay, so I’ve been trying out a Paralysis build, and it’s seriously effective against those back-to-back tough enemies in one of the hardest Optional Quests in Monster Hunter Wilds. To actually beat it though, you really need to make sure your gear is top-notch and you’ve got good elemental coverage. It’s a tough fight, and being prepared is key!
