How to unlock Galactic weapons in Overwatch 2

In Overwatch 2’s Season 15, not only did we see the debut of a significant update through the introduction of the Perks system, but also the arrival of stunning cosmic weapon variations! These are galaxy-themed weapon skins that you can earn, apply, and flaunt to others. Follow our guide to learn how to secure Galactic weapons in Overwatch 2.

How to get Galactic weapon skins in Overwatch 2

As a gamer diving into Overwatch 2, here’s my way to snag those Galactic weapon skins: Engage in the heart-pounding Competitive game mode. Why? The 2025 season has these cosmic weapons up for grabs as rewards – just like how the 2024 season dished out Jade weapons. Once you’ve proven your mettle enough times in Competitive, make a beeline for the hero gallery. To do this, navigate to Overwatch 2’s main menu and tap on “Heroes”. Then, select your favorite hero.

Next, navigate to the “Weapon Variants” tab. Here, you’ll find the assortment of available weapon variants. To take a peek at the Galactic weapon skin, choose the “Galactic” option. Interestingly, the appearance of the Galactic weapon variant can vary based on the skin you’re currently using! For illustration, when we put on our Happi Genji skin, his Galactic weapon variant transforms into a deep purple and green hue.

When you don the Hangzhou Spark Home Genji skin, the shurikens of the damage hero will emit a radiant glow in shades of purple and pink, which is consistent with his sword as well.

When satisfied with the weapon previews, click the “Unlock” button to trade 3,000 Competitive Points for it. Lastly, hit the “Equip” button to display your fresh skin during your next game.

In the competitive point system of Overwatch 2, you can only gain points by either winning or tying a match in the Competitive game mode. You will receive 10 points for a win and 5 points for a tie. As our screenshot above demonstrates, this is indeed the case.
