How To Sneak Into The Naut Library With Alvida In GreedFall 2: The Dying World

Completing Alvida’s storyline in GreedFall: The Dying World helps you learn more about the Nauts and their unique culture.

In the final part of the quest, ‘The Lifting of the Veil,’ Alvida discovers the truth about what happened on the mission that killed her mother. There are several choices you can make, and it’s easy to upset Alvida and the Nauts, so here’s a guide to achieving the best possible outcome.

Starting The Quest And Questioning The Ambassador

The quest ‘The Lifting of the Veil’ will begin after you finish the main story and return from Teer Fradee, but only if you’ve already completed the second personal quest for that companion.

Alvida mentioned she’s pursuing a new clue: the contract from her mother’s last job before she passed away. You should start by going to Peren and talking to the Deutan ambassador.

You have several ways to approach the ambassador. Alvida offers to speak for you, but you’ll earn the most favor by handling the conversation yourself and not mentioning her. Tell the ambassador this concerns a personal friend.

You’ll then be directed to go and investigate the Nauts themselves.

Return To Uxantis

Okay, so after that whole thing with Alvida, I need to head over to the shipyard in Uxantis and find the guy in charge. He’s the one who helped her out before, and I think he’s key to getting things sorted now.

You’ll have a conversation with him, trying to get information, but he won’t reveal where the contracts are kept. However, if Alvida speaks for you when asked, or if you succeed on a Diplomacy check, he’ll mention a hidden room within the library – something you’ll need to remember for later.

Sneaking Into The Library

Head to the library after dark. You’ll find several Naut guards patrolling, along with the librarian – someone you’ve likely encountered before.

If it is not nighttime yet, there is a post nearby where you can wait and skip time.

The game encourages sneaking around, but it’s not necessary. You can actually simplify things by getting caught right away and honestly explaining your purpose to the librarian. If you’re truthful, your approval rating won’t decrease, and you’ll be allowed to explore the library freely.

If you’re trying to complete the mission stealthily, avoid attacking the Nauts directly. While knocking them out won’t kill them, it will lower your standing with Alvida. Also, if the librarian sees you after you’ve subdued any Nauts, you’ll lose their approval too.

First, head to Alvida’s father’s office, which is located on the ground floor in the upper right corner. Take a look around inside – you’ll mainly find a book that belonged to him, and you’ll need it later.

Next, head upstairs to locate the secret room. Start by interacting with the bust on the left side of the room – you’ll find a key there. Then, go to the upper left corner and interact with the bookshelf. The book you found earlier will reveal a clue and activate the lever that opens the library’s secret room.

I need to get inside this hidden room and find the proof! It looks like Alvida’s dad was taking money from Kurnaz – basically accepting jobs to keep his crew afloat. That’s it, that’s the evidence I need to finally confront him with everything.

Confronting Alvida’s Father And Deciding His Fate

Go back to Alvida’s father in Uxantis. Once you tell him what you’ve discovered, he’ll confess that he trusted Kurnaz and took work from him. He’s deeply sorry and promises to step down from his role with the Nauts.

After he departs, Alvida will approach you, unsure of how to proceed. You can either convince her to prevent her father from resigning, or let him go ahead with it. Decide what you want to do, and then find him outside the Naut council chambers.

So, which choice should you make? Ultimately, Alvida will forgive her father regardless of your decision, and it won’t affect how much approval you receive. However, if you convince her to stay with the Nauts, she seems to have a more positive final interaction with her father, so keep that in mind.

After that, the quest is complete, giving you more approval with Alvida.
