Now that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are on Nintendo Switch, a lot of players are looking for information on how to obtain the Master Ball in the games.
So, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are finally on the Switch, which is awesome! I’ve been seeing a lot of new players asking about how to get a Master Ball – it’s the ultimate Poké Ball, and everyone wants one, right? I figured I’d look into how to get it in these versions.
Here is a guide.
Master Ball location in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen
To obtain the Master Ball in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, you’ll need to complete a task first. Begin by traveling to Saffron City, but you can only do this after you’ve woken up Snorlax with the Poké Flute and given the guard a drink.
When you reach Saffron City, you’ll need to free Silph Co. from Team Rocket, who have occupied the building. On the 11th floor, you’ll battle Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket—it’s a tough fight! If you win, the President of Silph Co. will thank you by giving you a Master Ball.
Just so you know, you only get one Master Ball in FireRed and LeafGreen, so choose carefully when you use it!
The best Pokémon to use the Master Ball on
Okay, so everyone always asks what Pokémon deserves the Master Ball, right? Honestly, you can use it on any Pokémon you want – even a super weak one like a level three Pidgey if you’re feeling silly! But the cool thing about the Master Ball is it always works. It guarantees you’ll catch whatever you throw it at, no matter what!
So, it’s best to be used on an incredibly rare Pokémon.
You absolutely can use the Master Ball to catch one of the legendary birds, or even MewTwo. But after you beat the Elite Four, a legendary dog will start appearing somewhere in the game world. The specific dog you encounter will depend on which starter Pokémon you picked at the beginning – it will be the one that your starter is weak against.
If you pick Charmander at the beginning of your game, you’ll have the opportunity to catch Suicune later on.
After you finish the main story, you can find these Pokémon wandering around the map, but they’re tricky to catch – they often run away at the start of a battle. A Master Ball is a really reliable way to catch them. I’m personally saving mine for Raikou when I encounter him, though I’m a Squirtle fan at heart!
