As a CS2 player, I’m really excited about the new Trade-Up feature – it actually makes getting knives feel achievable! Here’s what I’ve learned about how to use Trade-Ups to try and snag the knife I’m after in Counter-Strike 2.
Counter-Strike 2 now includes Trade-Ups, a system that lets you exchange skins for potentially better ones. It might appear to be based on luck, but there’s actually a method to it. Here’s how you can use the Trade-Up system to increase your chances of getting the knife you’ve always wanted in CS2.
Okay, so this new CS2 update has everyone talking – it’s all over Reddit and my favorite streamers are losing it! Basically, it’s way easier to unbox knives now. As a regular player, that means I actually have a decent shot at getting the knife I want without having to spend a fortune. It’s a big deal!

A player named kTk- discovered a reliable way to get a butterfly knife in Counter-Strike. They found that trading an M4A1-S Cyrex and a P90 Asiimov will always give you a butterfly knife from the Operation Breakout Weapon Case.
You can get the following knives with this trade-up:
- Base Butterfly Knife
- Fade
- Slaughter
- Blue Steel
- Stained
- Case Hardened
- Fores DDPAT
- Boreal Forest
- Crimson Web
- Night

The condition of the skins you trade can impact the condition of the skin you receive.
Trade-Up for a karambit in CS2
kTk- discovered that trading certain skins might improve your odds of obtaining a Karambit knife, but there’s still no guaranteed method to get one.
You can find a compiled list of his findings on this sheet.
How to check what skins you can get
Even though the update just came out, several online tools are already available to help you manage your items and make smart choices.
First, here’s how you can check what skins you can get if you trade up a specific skin or skins.

As a CS2 player, I’m really excited about this tool! Basically, you can put in the skins you have and their wear levels, and it’ll show you all the possible skins you could get by trading up – it takes the guesswork out of it!
How to get the CS2 skin you want with trade-up
On this website, you can also pick the skin you want to trade for. First, set the “Calculator Mode” to “Reverse.” This shows you every possible skin combination you can use to get the skin you’ve chosen.

It will also display the chance that you get the desired skin.
